Imagine episodes of pod casts with the latest in RPGM news tips and reviews! Heck be a guest speaker! What do you guys think? Hopefully work will begin soon. Not sure if I'll do all rpgm news and possibly see if the mag and places want to help me with it, whether be hosting audio of the latest casts or whatnot. I'll see what info I can gather, who wants to help out, etc...
Feel free to add your opinion and ideas and it would be great if you'ld be willing to help out.

If you have an iPod or have iTunes you should know what a pod cast is. Basically its sorta like a radio and or video outing except its not necessarily 24/7 like the radio. You just update the latest episodes of the pod cast whenever ya want and everyone who subscribes to the cast gets it updated and listens to the news. I'm not sure if its free or what it costs to host on iTunes but I'll look into it. We may need some sponsors if it costs anything. I have today off of school for weather purposes so I'm gunna look into all that stuff.

Ok people who want to add their own review or be interviewed add to a current convo you'll need to get an application called 'skype'. It's free to have and register. It only costs you money if you want to use it to call people who don't have skype and call them on an actual phone. I'm working on the audio recording part and all that right now.

Nash, this is a great idea and a great topic, but why is it stickied? via psp= idk may unstick if unpopular--- just to draw initial interest i guess It's not really an issue of whether it's popular or unpopular, I'm just saying that ves and I put some trust in you when we made you a moderator. When you sticky your own topics to "draw initial interest", that is kind of abusing your powers as a moderator. In addition, stickying them in the Domain Main forum put this topic above very important thread such as the Forum rules, and a step-by-step how-to on Becoming a Member. I'm not saying this thread or this idea is not important, I'm just saying that it's not really right for you to be able to promote your ideas by stickying topics in Main forums when others can't. So I am unstickying this topic now, sorry. As far as podcasts go, if it's something that you're into and feel like doing the work to get going, go for it. I hope you can find enough audio content to make such a venture worthwhile. As for me, I don't have an iPod or iTunes, so it's not really something that interests me. If it really helps out the community or attracts more people to RPGM2, though, I'm all for it.

The mag has already agreed to help host content and stuff. You won't need iTunes or an iPod to listen to the show, It'll probably just be an audio download for most people, possibly in sections so if you want to skip like an interview or something you just don't download that part.
~~~ Doan, I guess I saw this kinda being something like a contest or something. Another utility or service the board offers and didn't want it to sink in topic listings just because I hadn't posted in it for a while. So if new members arrive they can find out about the radio episodes then know to like maybe go to the main site and download them or something. What I should have done was stickied it, then restickied the rules and stuff so that they are placed above it in priority. Sorry seemed applicable at the time.
No, you're right, this is an important idea, and something that I would love to host anything you would like for. I didn't realize that it was something you could just download online very easily.
As far as stickying, if you would like to move this to the Domain Chatter forum and sticky it under the Member Profiles topic, that would be great. Besides, this podcast idea is really people talking about RPGM, right? Domain Chatter...
Here's kinda what I got:
Do a review or two of some games, basically have someone (who didn't make the game) talk about how they liked it.
Preview by talking to game makers and how their progress is going what they're doing.
Interview, talk to a game creator on one of their games, what makes their game cool and all that good stuff.
Tips and tricks, have atleast one for #1,2,& 3. ~ so far for the first i'm planning 1- Forced choice 2-Special Text Characters 2-Disable Run 2-Program O button 3-Any weapon to any character
Also a little info on a guide like the music guide, or map editor guide, my ACBS guide, etc...
And I think that'll make a good cast.
I really want to see if I can interview Shawn Forbes on his Shawnopoly.
And possibly an interview with Valk on how the pav contest is going.
Ix had the idea to have a roundtable of like Valk, Ix, and possibly me, representing pav, mag, and doan's repectively.
~~~~~EDIT~~~~~ Just got done talking to Valk and he's agreed to help out!

Well, I'm going away Friday, December 17, and won't be back in Columbus until after New Year's. If you want to talk to me before then, though, I'd be happy to give an interview or whatever. That might work out well... if you acted as an interviewer and asked the site heads different questions. Only problem for me is that I don't have a microphone, but I'd be willing to do something over the phone if that'd be possible.

I'm using a free voice conference program called Skype, you could just buy like a cheap mic or get like a USB headset for 20$. Valk's agreed already and since it was Ix's idea I'm sure he's in. Getting all 3 of you together at one time is another story. Valk has yet to pick up his mic as well. So tell me what ya wanna do. We could call you through skype but then it costs money for the call. Unless we call collect maybe? Not sure if we can do that on Skype....

This is a very neat idea, I may get an Ipod Chrismas and try and be a part of this good idea.

Nash was saying that it's really just a sound clip you download, that you don't even need an iPod.
To Nash: I know this sounds kind of dumb, but $20 is not really something I have right now. In order to go home for Christmas, I am taking a two week vacation, but unfortunately, my bills are not. So money is very tight, and that's not even considering getting Christmas gifts. So buying a mic is really out of the question. And I'm not so sure that all 3 of us need to be together at once, but then again, I'm not really sure what you have in mind. I think I would feel kind of out of place among Valk and Ix, as I don't have nearly as much time and energy devoted to RPGM as they do, and this site is still kind of an independent one with a "small" (but very good ;D) following. Maybe my roommate has a mic that I could borrow, though....

Yes, but it would be neat to have, I have always thought about getting an Ipod, but have always been skeptical. This could be the thing that will help me make the jump.

a little off subject, but necessary: dont get an ipod. get one of the independantly produced mp3 players. creative and rca both make fantastic products that are decently priced. the ipod is overpriced, just because they have a corner on the market. thats what happens when there is no product competition though, i guess...

Yeah, I have been looking into MP3 players, I recently saw one with 1 gig memory, and a lot nice features like voice recorder and such, and it was only 110$. I am hoping to find a good deal on one for about 80$. Since I want to save my money on more important things... like gas.
By the way Nash, how is progress going on this?

Progress you ask? Ok well not as fast as it should be, I need to talk to quite a few people yet and ask if they would be willing to either talk about their game or review another game. If any of you guys have a mic and want to that would be a great help.

Do I have a mic? I have a whole sound studio. However, I've very busy now and will be going back home in a few days. Maybe in the new year I can contribute to this project.
