Stardust returns to earth tomorrow! This is a big deal. It's a space probe bringing back particles from a comet's tail (and some from the "Solar Wind"). It can be watched on live webcam here: stardust.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/webcam.htmlThe last one crashed when it's parachute failed, so let's hope this one makes it. I guess the David Bowie reference was a little off topic. Oops. Peace.

WAKE UP!!IT'S A - COMIN' Normaly I'd say sorry to double post, but I feel no remorse this time so I shall pass. Blame yourselves for not responding to the topic and forcing a timely announcement to be a double post! Now go watch the landing Gosh Darn It! Peace. <><><> EDIT: <><><> Here's a better link: www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/index.htmlThat's NASA TV. Gotta go back to it, they got a signal but no radar confirmation. <><><><> EDIT AGAIN: <><><><> OK, they got it! Due to the overwhelming response to this topic, here's how they did it: They got this crap called Aerogel, which is basically Glass Foam. It's the lightest solid known to man. It looks like this: They set it up in collectors what look like this: When Comet Poop hits the array it gets stuck, like this: Any questions?

I'd have some if my recreational budget could cover it!
I don't know what I'd do with it, but I'd have it...

Someone asked what aerogel feels like and if you can sculpt with it. The question intrigued me. And I had a few minutes to kill at work. Here's some stuff: Aerogel seems like fun stuff if you can afford it. Peace.
