I read somewhere in one of the post that Doan mentioned he was having trouble with the map editor, either getting it to function the way he wanted or getting his map to look the way he wanted. As everyone here seem to be really knowledgeable about one thing or another I offer up my area of specialty.
The infamous Map Editor
After I bought RPG Maker 2 the only thing I really did with it for the first six months or so was play with the ME. I'm working on a ME FAQ on how to create just about any style of land you can think of, as well as clever ways to use the textures. But, until I'm finished I can walk anyone through this process if you can give me a decent enough idea of what you want to do.

Ive played with it some I think it would be good if you went over the ADV page with wave cycle, because that confuses some people.

The main trick to making textures look good is lowering edge and transparency. Try mixing textures together to get a new texture.
And thank you.

I've been jotting down some notes and working on my ME FAQ, but I would like to know what everyone else would like too see in this FAQ. All opinions all welcome and appreciated.

I think a map-making walkthrough would be a good addition to the tutorial. Other than that, since I don't have all that much experience with the map editor, I don't even know what to tell you as far as what to put in an FAQ. Just try to remember from your own experiences what you struggled with, and then explain those things.

Yeah, I don't know what tips and stuff you can put in it. Really the way to make a map look good is to use tons and tons of terrains and textrues and not keep it simple (which jacks up memory too, my projected memory it seems will be about 22,000 for my one world map, which is why I always tell people to shrink down the player instead of making multiple maps). You could explain what everything is (like slope and peak and /_\+ and /_\= and what all the buttons do, but for people like me that's common knowledge ).

I've always had trouble with the map editor....It's not that I don't understand Peak and slope and all that, its more of I have an Idea, but I can't figure out how to make it. Mainly that would be a good slope, like a slant going down gradually that the party can go across, it's hard to make a good one...

Yeah, I know what you mean about that. Hmmn, if I figure out a good way I'll be sure to post an explanation.

Wow, feedback rocks! Thanks all for so quickly offering your advice. I can't wait to see what some of the less fequent user have to say.

Oh, right, duh, my bad...
To create a gradual slope (I can't spell) it would depend on what type or should I size you need.
For a constant line slope, no choppieness, I would use the even land placement (triangle + UP) and use 0 slope and 50 (or lower) peak with a square shape land(triangle + DOWN). You will get a small square with gradual slopes on all four sides leading up to it. adjust the height of your land accordingly to get the slope you need.
Now, if you need a slope to cover a very long distance gradually I suggest using the uneven land palcent (default or triangle + UP once changed). Place a rectangle land piece (10W X 20L) at the very spot of where your slope will even out (top end) with the solpe of 0 and a peak of zero of 0 and use a height of about 8/16 (I'm guessing here, so you may have to tweak it abit). Press R1 + X to place a new land piece on top of that one and resize the length down 1 to 3 sizes and confirm it. Continue until you get the slope you're after.
Some of this might have to be tweaked, as I wrote all of it off my head, but it shoud help guide you towards undestanding slope creation a little better.
If this totally doesn't work or I read your problem wrong and thus gave wrong advice let me know and I'll try again.
Good luck!

I was more of looking for a kind of slope that slopes down like "\" except more so that ppl could walk up it and also have the slope on the other sides so sky view it would be perfectly flat on top, but slope down to ground fom raised plateau.

I think what you'd want to do then is make a raised plateau, then around the sides make custom slants with other similar, but different terrain markers. Just play around with the slope and peak to figure out what they are and change them accordingly. The real trick to making maps is look good is using tons of terrain and texture markers, because using few looks very plain and boring, at least that's what I've noticed.

Ol' Jimmy Paladin hit it right on the nose. I'm desperately trying to figure out just how to write a FAQ on this but truth be told the only real way to learn is to try and try again. But, given what you are looking for, I would follow Jimmy's advice on making your plateu and then at the edge of your plateu create a terrain piece with 50 slope and 0 peak for a strait "\" slope(I recommend using square/rectangle land to make things easier).
