I'll put up a quick checklist of everything that I plan on doing today: 1. Convert the website at www.doanthenado.com to HTML, eliminating the need for FrontPage. 2. While doing (1), optimize all files and delete those which are no longer needed. 3. Update the website, changing the layout and adding new demos and links. 4. Go through the "Our Created Games" forum to see who is eligible for a forum of their own. 5. Purge the member list of inactive members. 6. Make a few administrative changes to the message board (it will be shutdown for about 10 minutes as I do this). 7. Prepare taizongames' memory card to send back to him. There may be more, but I can't think of it right now. If you can think of anything I need to do, post here. I'm beginning these tasks right now, at 9:05, and I will post updates as I finish each one. |

Whew! That was much harder and much longer of an ordeal than I expected. I suppose the hardest thing was setting up the template for the pages, and included in that was writing a couple JavaScripts. The navigation area on the left is now controlled entirely through a script that I wrote. Anyways, it's now after 8 am, ET, and after working most of the night, 1, 2, and 5 are completed (thanks, Ves, for purging the list for me).
I am now heading for bed and likely getting up around 3 or 4, getting ready for a 5 o'clock job interview, then when I get back around 6, I'll spend an hour or so on homework and then work some more on actually updating the site.
The site may not look much different from your side, and that is actually a good thing. The majority of the changes have occurred on my side, especially with the way the HTML was formatted. The way it is now, my site will be much more flexible, and with the navigation buttons replaced by simple text, I will be able to fit more in that left bar than I used to.
Let me know if you have any problems viewing the site or if you think I need to make any changes.

I don't know if it has anything to do with the changes, but the board's background is black and the boxes are all red. I tried loading up the forums several times. np though

Originally (around 7:30 am or so) I had a problem with the permissions of my public_html file, which caused www sites to not be able to access the board images. Once I figured that problem out and changed the permissions, it seems to be working fine for me. Perhaps my site's server happened to be down for a while at the time you were accessing the boards...?
At any rate, if you do start noticing any strange problems, be sure to let me know.

Okay, I figured out the problem. If you don't refresh, you don't see it because the images are already on your computer. The problem is that some of the images' targets are still the old Frontpage folders (_themes and _derived, for example), and those pages are no longer on my web space. The files are still there, but in different locations, so I have to update the URLs, that's all.

The backgrounds should now all be fixed. I am now working on the title banner. Thank goodness for NotePad's Replace... command.

Thank you. The new stuff is basically tables and javascript, but for now I mainly just copy-and-pasted the FrontPage HTML, taking out everything that was originally FrontPage and taking out some of the unnecessary tags.
