Not sure if tech-demo is the right word or not, but who cares?
I have completed a hefty portion of my RPGMXP game (note: that doesn't mean it's almost done, just that there's a good amount of tweaking that's been finished), and I would like to post it so that people may play it, and see what they think. unfortunately, I'm about as tech-savy as a brick. Can I email it to someone who can put it on the web for everybody (possibly Doan if this site can host)?
Just a brief description: It's a completed map of the first town, along with a partially completed dangerzone (just what I'm calling maps with random encounters). There are only 2 working battles that can be experienced, and it will become obvious why i can't just make more enemies and throw them into a group, so that's why there's only 2. All graphics are currently the defaults, but the battle system has been tweaked to feature a side view, along with animations for the two playable characters. In the future, I plan to use custom graphics for all characters, npc's, and battle backgrounds. It also features mostly custom music. A few songs are mp3's from my Cd collection (may just have to give bonus points to anyone who can recognize the artists or song names). Nothing is final so far. I just met with the musician writing the songs for me, and discussed what would work with this game, so expect some improvements next time (whenever that is).
Anyway, the main point of this post is to find out HOW i can get this to other people. If anyone can help me with this, I would appreciate it to no end.

I always use: www.yousendit.comfor such things. Send the file to yourself (or nobody at all if you like) and they upload it to their servers and give you a temporary link. It's great for Large files. Small ones too. Just post the link here. Example: Here is one HUGE wma file. Dungeon: www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=6789D3BE7815F0A7I posted this elsewhere by request. It's the soundtrack, badly captured, to RPGM2. Just one of many such files I keep intending to just upload to the VFX Editor Guide site. I seem to have stopped updating it! I've been busy. Anyway... Yousendit.com gives temporary links. Refresh it if it expires. Good luck with it. Peace.

Great idea! Thanks Rodak. The file is up. www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=32DA55B47065C096Here's a little more of an explanation. This demo has no story elements whatsoever. The content in the game (like the graphics and music) will most likely change. What you will see is the result of my ideas put into action. In the future, i plan to use custom character graphics and animations, as well as new backgrounds for battles. The current setup for the party has your characters actually in the trees in battle, so do please overlook that. Also, please explore the town, even though there are few npc's. There are some explainations of how battles work. Plus, I would like some feedback. Does the town look ok? Does something seem to be missing, or out of place? Please post any comments or criticisms you may have. All in all, this will most likely only tkae 15 minutes to fully explore (the woods area is a bit large and labarynthine). Enjoy people! EDIT: Forgot to mention some things. You'll notice that your character changes graphics quite often. This is due to an experiment. I wanted to see if it was possible to make seperate standing, and walking animations for the lead character. When you take a step, you change to a different graphic. As soon as I get the custom animations done, this won't look so weird. I ask you to bear with it. Also, If you hold down 'z' or 'shift' while moving, you will run. This will also change your walkin graphic for the same reason. Just a test to see if a running animation can be used.

i played around with it for about ten minutes or so. the custom stuff was well done. i liked the animations in battle and the gravestone when the enemy died. the music was very well done, too. i'm assuming the 'a' button thing has to do with class and abilities? it was interesting nonetheless. also, was there anything in the forest? cause i walked around a bit and didn't find anything other than enemies. the one thing that i picked up on, however, was that the mapping could use a little work. there's a great tutorial here that i found to be incredibly helpful while mapping my landscapes. overall, it looks like you're on the right track with XP. i need to get off my lazy ass and put out a demo for seraphim, and this was the inspiration i needed. keep up the good work. -the smurf

Thanks for the input. The 'a' key thing is indeed a class switching system. That's another thing i forgot to explain. I was greatly inspired by Legend of Mana on the PS1. The whole mission based system with multiple storylines that don't need to be done, but are the most fun you can experience was what i liked the most. So, I want to model that. The main storyline will involve Chyse and Centauri. Chyse is the main character, and will spend a lot of time traveling with only 1 or 2 party members during missions. The class change system allows you to make Chyse fill any needed roles. He will learn a lot of varying abilities, some of which are more effective when he is in one class over another, simply because of the stat changes. Thats all the classes do really: change his stats.
And unfortunately, no there is nothing in the forest yet. It's merely a place to go around and fight, and see what I've done with maps so far. Apparently, it needs work. I'll look into that tutorial you linked for me.
Thanks for playing the demo.

I personally like Ripway because your files stay there forever or whenever you want to delete it, unlike Yousendit. But Yousendit is a nice and fast hosting site.

If you want to give me a description, I would be happy to upload your demo to the website.

I assume you mean a description of something other than the game?
Sorry for the ignorance. Like I said, tech-savy as a brick. What kind of description do you mean?
