Wow, a lot of good names in this list. It sure looks like you're going to have a lot of equipment in your game. Well done!

Do you want us to go through them and tell you which we like or something? I remember going through this process and have a list too, so I could add some too, if you'd like.

Thanks! I think this'll be fun.
SWORDS Short Sword, Broad Sword, and Long Sword - From my experience, because swords and spears were very common weapons throughout time, there are easily enough more specified, more interesting names to use. These are good, but I prefer to use specific ones for each type (like Claymore or Durandel). Scimitar, Rapier, Cutlass, Gladius, Claymore, Mythril Edge, and Flamberge I like a lot. Cyphos sounds good, but I couldn't manage to find what it meant (so I don't have an opinion either way yet). Sylvan Blade seems good (I know it's really hard to think of Earth elemental weapons, so I say go for it). Great Sword, Knight's Edge, Barbarian Sword, Double Sword Steel Sword, and Great Katana seem too generic to me (though I think Great Sword is a real type of sword). As for Katanas, I don't know jack-squat about them. I used to know two, a short one and I think a long one (medium one was 'katana'). I want to say one was Wodachi, but I'm not sure at all. Masamune, Excalibur, Blood Sword, Rune Sword, and Dragon's Bane sound good to me. I'm not so sure about Bone Blade and Martyr Edge, but they don't seem bad either.
Suggestions: Fafniel - Sword used by someone to kill a fiersome dragon in some mythology story. Durandel - Roland's divine sword from some story. Caladbolg - Giant sword apparently capable of destroying a whole mountain at once. Bastard Sword - (overused, I know) It was a real type of Long Sword. Shamshir - Synonym for Scimitar. Falchion - Short sword with a semi-circle curve in the blade designed to catch opponent's weapon. Tyhrung/Answeller - Stolen from Brigandine. Both come from Norse mythology (Tyr is some Norse God, and I forget Answeller) (in Brigandine, Thyrung was darkness and Answeller was holy). Estoc - Another type of rapier.
AXES Hand Axe, War Axe, Beheading Axe, Ragnarok (in Norse mythology, Ragnarok is when the world will freeze over and only a few people will survive - so I think it should be ice elemental, and powerful), Executioner, and Skull Splitter I like a lot. Woodsman Axe, Battle Axe, Iron Axe, Giant Slayer, and Giant Axe seem good to me (of course, also Steel Axe). Light Axe, Common Axe, Spinning Axe, Hell Axe, and Primitive Axe don't seem that appealing. Orcish Waraxe, Adamantium Slasher, Viking Battleaxe, and Axe of Odin seem awkward.
Suggestions: Hatchet (perhaps instead of Woodsman Axe or Light/Common Axe) - Little one-handed axe meant to chop wood. Rune Axe - Stolen from the Ogre Battle/Tactics Ogre series, a holy elemental axe. Demon Axe/Devil Axe - Nothing special here really (axes are a difficult group). Dragon's Bane/Apocalypse/Inferno - Axes are a difficult group.
KNIVES Dagger, Butcher Knife, Stiletto, Main Gauche, Kryss/Kryss Knife, Silencer, Ninja Knife, Thief Knife, Dragon Fang, and Wyrm Fang I like a lot. Kukri, Garrot, and Ishk's Sword I couldn't find the meaning of (so I don't have an opinion either way yet). Goblin War Knife, Assassin's Shadow, Dragon's Toothpick, Dagger Gauntlet, and Aphrodite Knife seem somewhat awkward. I understand someone in your game is named Frostheart, so Frostheart's Fang seems fine. Serrated Blade seems fine too.
Suggestions: Dirk - (overused, I know) A small knife of some sort. Kunai/Kunai Knife - The most common knife used by ninjas (at least in videogames it's very common). Katar/Katal - Knifes that were worn like gloves (Kiros from FF8, Jack from EOE (Eve of Extinction), and (if you look closely) Ashton from SO2 (Star Ocean 2)).
MACES (Hammers too, it seems) Club/Wooden Club, Bronze Club, Iron Club, Steel Club, Light Mace, Heavy Mace, Giant Hammer, and Small Hammer seem fine. Ball & Chain, Spiked Ball & Chain (the ball and chain's a tough VFX to make), Morningstar, Warhammer, Tri-Ball & Chain, Thor's Hammer/Mjollnir (should be lightning elemental since Thor is the God of thunder), and Inquisitioner I like a lot. Common Mace, Battle Hammer, Dwarven Warhammer, Gnome Hammer, Warlord's Tri-Ball, and Crusader's Morningstar aren't that appealing.
Suggestions: Mallet - Stolen out of Mario RPG. A synonym for hammer.
BOWS (And crossbows, it seems) Short Bow, Long Bow, Composite Bow, Sylvan Longbow/Sylvan Bow, Crossbow, Heavy Crossbow, Lute Bow, Fey Short Bow/Fairy Bow, Hunting Bow/Hunter's Bow (Bow of the Huntsman), Sniper/Sniper's Bow, Hawkeye (Hawk Bow), and Yew Bow (again, earth is a tough element for weapons) I like a lot. Great Bow, Bowgun, and Brimstone Crossbow/Brimstone Bow seem fine too. Light Crossbow, Gnomish Crossbow, Battle Bow, War Bow, and Gnomish Bowgun, seem to awkward or boring.
Suggestions: Shiva Dhanush/Shiva Danush - In Indian (people of India) mythology, Shiva's ice bow. Crescent Bow - I actually like your Lute Bow name more, but same idea. Photon Bow - A name I've always liked (can't say why for certain) (holy elemental).
POLEARMS Spear, Short Spear, and Long Spear - From my experience, because swords and spears were very common weapons throughout time, there are easily enough more specified, more interesting names to use. These are good, but I prefer to use specific ones for each type. Halberd, Lance, Pike, Bardiche, Poleaxe, Trident, Glaive, and Impaler I like a lot. Tribal Spear and Whirlwind seem good too. Half Spear, Gold Lance (Gold's actually a weak metal), Poseidon Trident, Lancelot, Colossal Halberd, and Sacrificial Spear seem awkward.
Suggestions: Javelin - (overused, I know) This was a short spear that could be used as a throwing weapon (I suggest this in place of Half Spear). Corsica - I forget exactly, but somewhat like a Bardiche. Chauve Souris - I forget, but I have it written down as being a 'Pike'. Partisan - Popular spear that had two little prongs at the sharp end designed to catch opponent's weapon (same idea as the Main Gauche). Grugnir - I think it's the head valkyrie's spear, either that or Odin's (I think the head valkyrie's) in Norse mythology (holy seems suitable, but either way seems fine). Trishuln - In Indian (people of India) mythology, Shiva's ice trident.

wow, Will about summed everything up.
personally, i prefer the old Celtic way of spelling Claymore better, which was Claidheamh-mor. also for swords you may want to add Hrunting, which was the sword Unfearth gave to Beowulf in the Anglo-Saxon epic.
i like how you are straying from the banality of most RPG weapons (i am guilty of using them) such as iron > steel > bronze > silver > gold > mythril > rune > holy without any sort of creativity. most of your names come across as original (even if they're not) and are definitely a break from the norm.
seeing as how Will went into such extreme detail there's really nothing more for me to say. good luck with the new game.

I would also like to point out that some of the names Will didn't like because they were "boring" or "common" may be very good names for generic first weapons. Also, there were a few names that he didn't like which I thought were pretty good:
Knight's Edge Hell Axe Adamantium Slasher Viking Battleaxe Axe of Odin Assassin's Shadow (I think this is a pretty awesome name) Dragon's Toothpick sounds good, but almost seems like a joke or something Aphrodite Knife is good if Aphrodite actually had a knife in Greek mythology Poseiden Trident Lancelot Sacrificial Spear
The ones above are mostly ones that I really liked, the other ones seemed passable to me, they just didn't stand out. I think there's room in your game for all of these, even if some of us don't like certain ones. This is especially true if a certain weapon makes sense to start out with, or if the name of a weapon is tied to an in-game legend. If you have to start cutting out weapons due to space restrictions, however, Will's list of ones that he doesn't like might be a good place to start.

You guys gave me some awesome feedback. TO WILL: Those were some awesome lists you gave me as suggestions. Trust me when I say at least a few of them will make it into my game. The Great Katana on your swords suggestion is the one I might remove...as I don't know anything about Japanese weaponry at all. haha. The double sword, I didn't know what to call it but it's a sword that has a blade on each end of the hilt - as in if you hold it horizontally in front of you there will be a blade to the right and left of your hand. You'll see I have a few 'steel' weapons, but that's because they are a huge thing in the game. They are actually invented during the course of the game, so for this game I figured 'steel' was a powerful enough word. I really like the swords suggestions your gave as well, I didn't know that Caladbolg was a mythological weapon. It's not even a polearm...damn you Brigandine! As for axes, I have no idea how I forgot hatchet. lol. I've used a hatchet in every RPG I've ever made I think. The axes you listed as awkward are actually some of my favorites, but I agree with your not that appealing on the Common Axe and Spinning Axe. Daggers - I liked most of the one's you said are awkward, although I'll get right on changing the dagger gauntlet to a Katar/Katal. Garrot is one of the weapons that the crafters thought it was ironic to name (garrot means a piece of wood used to tighten a bandage to suppress bleeding) as it is covered in a chemical that causes the enemy to bleed faster. I haven't found a real chemical that causes that yet, and if I can't I'll either make one up or blame it on magic, since magic always works. With the bows, I'm thinking of removing War Bow, as I agree that doesn't sound too appealing. I might take the Crescent Bow, and turn it into one of the bows you can buy. Shiva's Dhanush I'm thinking of taking, too, as a unique obviously. With the polearms, I probably will end up taking your suggestion and replacing the halfspear with a javelin. I know gold's a weak metal, but the thought of a golden weapon that is powerful is always appealing to me. I really appreciate your suggestions, especially the items that you offered that I didn't think of. TO SMURFY: Thanks, I try to stay away from falling in line with a lot of RPGs that use the same weapons again and again. I usually only use metals if it's something unique. For example, Steel is invented in the game, so it's a huge deal. Adamantium is a special metal that few smiths have the talent to work with, and mythril is similar. TO DOAN: Thanks, Doan. It's always good to have different opinoins on here, and you reinforced my belief after Will thought they sounded awkward on those. As for the Aphrodite Knife, as far as I know she didn't have a knife, haha, but I thought the abilities I could give it would go well with the name. I couldn't really name it The Love Dagger, or Passion Knife. lol. Of course, any suggestion on this would be awesome. Dragon's Toothpick is another irony-based names. It's a skinny, but fast and powerful dagger that the crafters decided to name in jest.

Keep the comments coming by the way, I might post a list of spells soon.
What do you guys think of the defensive equipment?
