I have been working on the unpleasant task of trying to make the 2 halves of my game appear more like each other. A while back (before I even discovered that other people online care about this game) I ran out of memory and split my work in half. Basically just copied the file and delelted everything related to the other half, and only the other half, in both files.
Since then I have made a few cool visual effects I want to move over to the other half! I already know that it is impossible to transfer data from file to file (HEY ENTERBRAIN : PLEASE LET US DO THIS NEXT GAME!). But with visual effects you really want to get it right. So I had an obvious idea (my specialty!) that I have not seen suggested elsewhere, and it is so obvious it may be missed... I took over a month to think of it, but I am slow with some aspects of this game. Real life can be distracting (Gosh Darn It To Heck!)
Anyway. Just plug your PS2 into a VCR and start taping. Go to all the pages of fancy parameter tweaking, stay there a minute and move on. Then go to any maps/dungeons or any direct effects or even scripts you want to duplicate and then all you have to do is watch the tape and pause when needed while remaking your effects/data. It is so much easier than taking notes!
If this seems obvious, I toldja so... but if I told you that I was using screen shots (for floorplans in dungeons I decided belonged in both halves after all) before I thought of this you'd think I was even dumber {yes, screen shots stay in memory after you "delete all" so long as you never made them into "images" and tell it to keep them when it asks} {so I guess you can carry some data from one file to another!}.
Really push your circuit breakers! You can truly need to be using your TV, VCR, PS2, Stereo (and Fans/Air Conditioner in the summer) all at once!
