It's probably happened to you before. (Especially in a Final Fantasy game.) The villain takes five minutes of your time explaining why he's so evil, and finally he finishes and begins to fight you. Except, oh no! You lost! No problem, you'll just try again. But first you have to go through a fate worse than the death you just experienced: having to listen to the villain repeat everything again for another five minutes.
Thus the reason for the poll. Should you be forced to watch the cutscene again, or should it skip right to the battle? Or maybe you should be given a choice every once in a while. What do you think?

The best feature of Star Ocean 3, letting you skip those cutscenes.

There is nothing more annoying (well, there is, but for the sake of aurgument...) then having to watch the same cut-scene over and over again. However, sometimes I want to see the scene again in case I missed something the first time or if I stopped playing for a while and I forget what was going on when I quit. So I say, give people the option to watch the scene again if they want to.

I'd say just don't make the cutscenes before the bosses that long (with an exception of the final boss - that's okay). Also, if the boss is sudden/with-out-a-save before it make it pretty easy.

Draygone, did you really expect anything other than the third option to be chosen? I don't think anyone will tell you that a long pre-boss cutscene should be endured repeatedly. So I also say they should be skippable. But there should be the option of watching them again for reasons already mentioned in this thread.

Well, I was probably gonna make it optional anyway, I was just curious.
And only a few bosses have real quick introductions. Every other boss is too important to not lead up to. Though, only one or two bosses have exceedingly long scenes right before them.

I am one of those who like cartoons and animation so much that, unless I do not care for the scene I would be willing to watch these things repeatedly. I guess the option is best, but I really do not care either way.
If I have to sit through it too many times either I am a terrible player and deserve it, or the game is unbalanced and not worth the time sitting through all that.
If I do not want to see it I have an old "Turbo" controller I can plug in to breeze through the dialog.
But the ultimate answer is to simply not lock the scripts with a password. Then the player can set anything anyway they want.
If only all video games had that option!

It should definitely be an option.
