Ooh, sounds good to me. I am Draygone. Er, for those of you who don't already know, that is. I am a game developer who can never stick with one project. Well, there was once, but that was over a year ago and I want to finish another one sometime soon. It was a good game, though.
My philosophy on games is, if it's not fun, don't release it. I don't like to release my games unless I have everything the way I like it. If I don't like it, I either fix it, or scrap it.
I also think I'm a good storyteller. Especially when it comes to this one game I started planning years ago (which unfortunately is under the effects of that whole "cannot stick with one project" curse). Since I've never really released my own RPG, I have yet to get a second opinion, so all I can do is assume that's the case.
Unfortunately, I am terrible in the graphical department. I don't like making maps in games. Only possible exception is RPG Maker XP, which quite possibly has the best map creation tool I've ever used (must be the mouse). I'm not real good at making special effects either, though I aim to improve in that area.
My current goal is to create an RPG on RPGM2. I'm just having a lot of trouble deciding on a story for it at the moment.

My current goal is to create an RPG on RPGM2. I'm just having a lot of trouble deciding on a story for it at the moment. Here's an idea... write the titles of every story you have considered making on a piece of paper, in a list, with a little bit of room between each title. Now, using scissors or just simply tearing, create a slip of paper for each title. Fold them up, drop them in a hat, shake it a bit, and draw one at random. That will be your story ;D. About me (sorry if you've heard this before), I purchased RPGM2 last May because I was really excited about making my own RPG. About 9 years ago, I had read in Nintendo Power about an SNES game released only in Japan that allowed people to create their own RPGs, and ever since then I had wanted a game like that. When I heard about RPGM2, I immediately bought it, the strategy guide, 2 memory cards, and a keyboard so I could get working on it (I also later ordered an X-Port). I have really enjoyed making my RPG, but even more than that, I have come to love the community that I have become part of. I never really was much into message boards, but here I'm talking to a ton of different people with similar interests and ideas to mine, and I couldn't be happier. I go to college at OSU in Columbus, OH, and I have a girlfriend that lives about 3 hours away where I went to high school. I move back home during the summer to see her and to work my summer job. Right now I'm in my junior year and I just switched majors from Physics to Pre-Med Chemistry, so it looks like I'm going to have about 3 more years to go (counting this one). I like to do anything athletic and competitive. Just last night I went to one of OSU's rec centers and played some pick-up games of basketball for about 3 hours. I also like to play soccer with my girlfriend. She's the goalie for her high school soccer team, and I've been trying to help her out a little with that. Of course, I also enjoy playing video games, but I haven't really played any since I started working on mine. Well, that's it about me, now let's hear about the rest of you, Doan the Nado p.s. (you, too, vespuleth ;D)

Doan arleady knows me from the thousands of messages I post. But to make it simpler. My names Demetrie I am 12 years old and Have played rpg's my whole life... It all started with the first Zelda. Then Final fantasy then Dragon warrior and now Rpg maker. I used to go to school in Virginia but we just recently moved maryland and I too left my girlfreind ( if you reall beleive in pre-teen love ;D) anyway, About 2 years ago I was online looking for a new rpg game when I saw a game it said RPG Maker 02. I was so amazed I read every ad I could find. And got so anxious I bought Rpg maker 1 in hopes of holding me over until the 2nd came out... My brother Rafik really got me into RPG's he turned 21 last month and ever since I remember played Rpg's. The only reason I liked them was because I wanted to become better than my bro and started playing as many as possible until I grew to love them. Some of my freinds thought it was weird for a black kid to be obssesed with rpg's and tried to provoke me into madden. ( to make a long story short it didn't work...) I really love my brother. But it was a shame he got married has a 7 month year old kid and is the army now. He barely has time to play. But he still says he's better than me... I told him about Rpgm2 and all he asked me was " IS IT COOL"? I'm like, yeah it's good. He's never asked me to teach him. But he comes down next month and were spending " Quality Time" so by then my game Sun knights will be pretty long and my party member system that Doan is helping me with will be complete. I don't quite know why. But I was blessed with the brain power and understanding of the worlld enough to create stories and games that most adults would think was created by another adult. I'm just like that... I'm pretty smart for a 12 year old and I'm glad. By the time I'm doan or Rafiks age I'll be like Albert Einstein cuz I get like straight A's... Anyway, I'm just a natural rpg lover. And Doan has really helped. Doan and my bro would make good freinds but unfortunately I'm toughin this rpg dream by myself ( along with 2/4 help from Doan...

I've tried the random choice deal several times before, never worked. Well, never tried it to decide on a story, but with choosing what game to play (I have trouble playing through a game as well as making one). The problem with creating a story is, so many ideas are being used in this one epic game I hope to someday create (just need to get to like drawing), and I'd hate to use one of the ideas in another game. That, and some ideas I come up with don't work. How come the villain just sits there at his castle instead of coming to beat you up? Is the inclusion of this plot device really necessary? Is the plot device good at all? If I see a plot hole in my story, the story is either trash, or I need to fix it. I did come up with something, though (including an interesting reason for why the villain doesn't come to kill you; and no, it isn't because he's using you or you being the chosen one or anything typical like that). Hopefully I'll stick with it.
Other information on myself (just so nobody can say I went completely off-topic). I work at Wendy's. My job is pretty much cleaning tables/chairs/windows/trays, keeping the condaments stand stocked, sweeping crumbs and the like off the floor, and making sure there's toilet paper and soap in the restrooms. People tell me I do a pretty good job, though I think I can do better if I tried hard enough. Problem is, the harder I try, the more clumsy I get.
I became interested in RPGs back in 96, I think (the Christmas after Super Mario RPG came out). My grandpa got SMRPG. I had heard about it in Nintendo Power, but before playing it, I thought RPGs were weird games with lots of numbers and nothing but fighting monsters in caves. After solving the riddle that everyone was stuck at by talking to toad in Mario's house after Exor destroys the bridge (this is about 8 minutes into the game), I became pretty hooked. The game was extremely difficult for me (moreso because I didn't know I was supposed to fight all the monsters to stand a chance against bosses until I was halfway through the game), but I still found it very awesome, and cheered out loud after I beat Smithy for the first time. And, I've been hooked on RPGs ever since. Moreso than I should be, I think. I've got too many of them.
My experience with creating an RPG started with C++, when part of the final grade for our semester-long C++ programming class was to create our own little program (it was nothing but text, of course). I was trying to replicate a battle against a final boss, with four characters fighting a big bad (unseen) monster. Too bad the floppy I was relying on too much got corrupted and I lost all the data. I'll skip the rest of the details, as I plan to put them in a special "history" feature when I get the rest of my web site up (all I need to do is get the art done), but the rest pretty much invovles trying to get a text-based RPG in C++ as my own free-time project, my first RPG Maker being RM2K, finding out it was illegal and getting RPGM1 a few months later, and many, many attempts at a game called Slayers' Reign.

Draygone.. there dosent really have to be an explanation for things... I mean sure the boss waits for you in a castle or in space or in a different time or world or somthing but thats what traditional rpg gamers are used to, and sort of like. In my opinion it lets yyou know that the evil boss won't just pop up and beat the hell out of you... No, not many if any gamers like that. A normal rpg consists of fighting all the semi-bosses some monsters in between and a couple mini-games which is optional then you fight the big climax battle you win and VOILA! you beat the game! if you have trouble making games the best thing to do is a game like that. I'm doing one similer in my game SUNKNIGHT where the hero is pursuing the evil knight Eridor and dosen't know of his whereabouts until the secret becomes clear and he finds is location. You can stick with what you have now.. But I was just saying. I don't like it when players giive up a game that could really be awsome if you tried making a traditional rpg...

actually, holy flame, i cant stand when things arent explained. i want to know why the bad guy doesnt come and deal w/ you when your level 1. i do like the way you have altered this in your story, however, by making the goodguy chase the badguy. it gives more of the idea that the two are of the same experience/skill and that the bad guy has something to fear about the goodguy. nice edge.
also, i grow bored w/ rpgs that follow standard format. i like rpgs w/ something that breaks the surface. i also look for a gripping storyline, btw.
i dont have time now, so i may post info about myself later.

haha, Well Ves sometimes there are no answers.. I'm a pretty good storyteller and I just thought of a game for you or anyone else if you like knowing EVERYTHING... okay, here it is
a boy has a certain item or power that the evil boss want's. When he pops up requesting the item or power. The boy refuses and is killed. He is then sent to A world where all the dead people go, call it the " spirit world" or somthing. Then in that world he has to become strong enough to Go back to the living world. But you have to be EXTREMELY powerful to do so. Once you get out the world. You decide to fight the boss for two reasons 1. revenge and 2. you wan't your item or power back... there's your story I skipped around a lot of details like characters, villages, towns and other things because thats up to you... Hope for all you who like games like this Use this or somthing like it.. Hope this helped... - Holy Flame

hmmm about me. i have a degree in clinical lab science, and work in a hospital. i have spent all of about 4 months in a formal college setting, and at the time it wasnt for me. so i settled for my degree, and now am abused by my job. ask doan about my hours if you dont believe me.
as far as rpgm2 goes, i bought it last february. i had been looking forward to its release, because it seems to be a good cumulation of two things i really enjoy doing:
writing and programming. while i have never worked as a writer, i used to program, and am actually published for some c++ work i did a few years back. i figured that, having alot of stories written, it would be no biggie. and it was on sale at the px, so i got it for like 22 dollars (if i remember correctly) i didnt have the money for a keyboard, or fileshare devices, but i was okay w/ that.
the first thing i wrote was a dungeon crawler, followed by a cbs tutorial. the first thing worth puttin out to the community was a chess game (long gone now, deleted), but i didnt have a fileshare device, so it eventually got washed over. i also wrote a game (which i will be rewriting) called Underneath a Red Sun, which is an adaptation of an old DnD campaign i wrote a few years ago. this file got deleted when i lost power while saving. stupid lightning. anyways, right now im currently not workin on anything for rpgm2. in fact, i havent even played it (or any other ps2 game, really) in like 3 or so months, when i went through some personal issues, and just havent been able to get interested again. my main delay right now is that i do not want to write a game i cannot share, and i dont have a fileshare device. i do however have a keyboard finally. got one a few months ago, when i purchased ffxi. (which i dont play anymore).
ummm... i also coproduced the tactical grid combat system (renamed by me the vicious tactics combat system), a cbs something like fftactics. my partner in this endevor is vicious. so yeah.
rpgs... i guess i like rpgs because they are epic. and i am a sucker for a good story. i like alot of video games, (i play almost any kind) as well as movies. my friends kind of regard me as a critic.
hobbies: i have done a little of everything, im sure. name something. ill tell you if ive done it. im a dilitante, which means that i dabble in everything, but get bored w/ it, and move on.
im here because, well, doan is a cool guy, and he asked me to do some work on his board about two weeks ago, and i figured i would get in on some smaller communities.
ummm... somewhat in the same vein as what doan said, i am more into the communities. i havent played rpgm2 in a while, but i still appear on the boards.
i am a fairly blunt, forward person, so dont take it hard or feel insulted. its just the way i am. also, im not real big on small talk. guess im done now.

Might as well post something here... I'm 24 years old, in the final year of university (majoring in Cognitive Science). I purchased RPG Maker 2 when it was first released here in North America. Before that though, I was a competitive gamer. I liked competing for high scores/best times, and spent most of my gaming time doing so. Some of my recent achievements are having the third best score in Canada (sixth best in the western world) for the GC shmup Ikaruga, and I'm also one of the top Wario Ware players, to name a couple games I've competed in. But I've always enjoyed RPGs, and that was what interested me in RPGM2 (even though I'm using this program to create an action/adventure game at the moment). I also have a fairly decent background in programming. I have experience with a number of programming languages such as C++, Visual Basic, Prolog, Lisp, etc. I even programmed a Pong demo as well as a small shmup demo using Visual Basic with DirectX. RPGM2 attracted me though because I didn't have to deal with a lot of the more complicated issues of programming a game from scratch, and I was never that great at creating my own graphics/sprites either. I also have quite an extensive musical background as well. I've been playing the trombone in various concert bands for around 13 or so years, and I've also played the piano for a number of years. Even toured in Europe with the high school band back when I was still in high school. I enjoy composing music as well, and that's something I try to add to my games as much as possible. I think this little intro is becoming too long, so I'll cut it at that.

Hi, I'm George Ward, AKA Dungeon Warden. My first experience with RPG games was Quest for the Apple II. I got a Commador 64 and bought several RPG's including Phantasy I, Bard's Tale, and D&D: Pool of Radiance. If you know anything about these games, you will realize they are all very different in their take on the RPG genre.
Dragon Warrior I was my first Japanese RPG, but it was Final Fantasy I that really caused me to fall in love with Japanese RPGs. I have every RPG game that ever came out for the NES and most of the ones that came out for the SNES. I have every Final Fantasy Game except number 3, which I hear is coming out on the PSP.
I learned to program BASIC on my Commador 64 and the wonderful Adventure Construction Set game me the tools to create my own RPG games. RPG Maker 2 is far better, but it was an amazing game making tool at the time.
I pre-ordered RPG Maker 2, but didn't get it until almost a month after it came out (Amazon.Com got the game late). I have been learning the programs secrets ever since.
I am currently taking Graphic Design at a community college and haven't had much time to work on my game, but the demo is out if anyone has a device to download it.
If anyone has any questions about what RPG Maker 2 can do, I'll do my best to answer them.

Well, I'm Aaron Price, I am 21 years old. I am a freshman in in college, I am taking criminal justice. I want to be a detective when I finish. Some people say that I'm super intelligent, but I don't think so. I like games, movies, guns, books, and electronics of all sorts. I have a son that is 1 year old, and a lovely girlfriend whom I hope to marry soon. I always wanted to make my own rpg since I was young(maybe 8?). My friend Chris told me about RPGM2 and I was ecstatic. He bought it hoping we could make a game together as a team, but he hates it and says that RPGM2 is a useless to him. So he just gave it to me to pay off a debt. I've been playing for about two months now, and I'm starting to pick up some steam with it. Keep your eyes peeled for a demo in about a month. If I decide to not make a demo, and go ahead with the whole thing at once, it should be ready in about 6 months to a year (I have a long way to go!)

Salutations! I think most of you know me by now in one way or another, but here it goes. My name is Levi Williamson. I am 22 years old, a college student from Austin, TX. My major is drafting, but I plan to use it as a starting point for eventually owning my video game store (hopefull before I get to my mid thirty's). I like to think of myself as a write, as thats where my true abilities seem to be. I am working on a trilogy that I've been trying to work out since I purchesed RPG Maker 1 way back when. I hope to actually finish a game this time around. (Damn ed up graphics totally ruined my vision). I like things that other peolpe don't, I find it refreshing to piss people off, and I dream of becoming the next Unabomber(wait, I'm not supposed to say that here, my bad) I enjoy writing and thinking mostly, oh yeah, dreams rock!
