I'm going to finally buy a USB keyboard for rpgm2, and I know all the common questions and answers, but I was wondering...
Does the keyboard go in controller slot 2 and controller in controller slot 1, or do you have to unplug and plug each when you want to use each of them? I ask this because there's a dual controller-keyboard thing that I was going to get because of this, but if the keyboard can function in controller slot 2 this wouldn't matter.
Thank you!

Mine's a SharkBoard, and the way it's set up, both controllers stay where they are, and the board plugs into one of two USB ports below Controller #1. So I never have to unplug anything, which is kind of nice...

I think that must be the dual thing I'd heard of, cool. Thanks for saying the name of it.

I've never run across one that doesn't go into a USB slot. Heck the keyboard I'm using right now would work for my PS2.

yeah, nash is right. all keyboards use the usb port. the ones that have controls built into them use a usb port and a controller slot.

On a side note, you can even get a cheap PS/2 (not to be confused with PS2) keyboard and get a PS/2 to USB converter off ebay for like $3, including shipping. All told, I spent about $13 to have a keyboard that works just fine.

The keyboard plugs into the USB port underneath the controllers. It doesn't go into a controller port at all. If you get the combo controller/keyboard, there is a plug for the controller port and also one for the USB port.

Okay. Thank you! That is very awesome indeed. So, pretty much any USB keyboard. Cool.

Yes, or even a regular cheap old keyboard for a computer (=PS/2 connector) + a PS/2-to-USB converter will work just as well.
