I looked through ALL of the pre-played games at ebgames.com and made a pretty big shopping cart of old, cheap games. Basically, what do you guys think of these games, since most of them I have not played. First of all: how fast do you think the price for Metal Gear Solid 3 and Suikoden 4, more so MGS3, will drop? I'm not sure if I want to spend 40-50 bucks when I could wait a month or two or three and spend more like 30, and with all these other games I could easily wait that long. Next: what do you guys think of these games, and are they worth the price I'd be paying... Most Likely will get_____ Atari Greatest Hits (PS) (includes Asteroids, Pole Position, Dig Dug, and one or two others) - $6 Namco Museum Volume 3 (PS) (same thing, old atari classics) - $8 Croc (PS) (I remember enjoying a demo a long time ago and I think it'd be worth the 2 bucks haha) - $2 Legacy of Kain, Soul Reaver (PS) (I've heard good things about it and it looks like it could be some fun) - $3 Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance (PS2) (I should've probably played this a VERY long time ago, I take it) - $10 Soul Reaver 2 (PS2) (looks similar but more polished than 1st one) - $8 Half-life (PS2) (heard many good things about it, looks entertainingly scary, seems like it may also be good multiplayer) - $13 Suikoden 2 and 3 I pretty much know I'm gonna get so don't bother unless you really want to. EB disappointingly didn't have either on their site so I'll have to try ebay probably, maybe Amazon(?). More Iffy Buys_____ Star Gladiator (PS) (looks like it may be fun for a little while) - $4 Worms: Armageddon (PS) (I remember liking some of the worms and I think having them on PS2'd be fun, but money's more an issue here) - $20 Tenchu 2: Birth of the Stealth Assassins (PS) (looks like it could be good/fun for some time) - $3 Evergrace (PS2) (reminds me of Threads of Fate from what I've read, which I had maybe like 8 or 9 hours of fun with) - $6 WWF Smackdown 2 (PS) (I'm not a fan of wrestling or sports games, but I remember having a lot of fun in the endless season mode beating up stupid WWF wrestlers with my stupid custom ones with a friend of mine) - $8 Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (PS2) (seems like the best out of them gameplay-wise, seems like it'll be fun the first time through till I beat it, and I like the LotR characters and story (though I'm not a crazy fan)) - $10 Devil May Cry 2 (PS2) (I really liked the first one till it got too hard for me and I had to give up and heard the second was much, much easier (which disappointed most people but makes me more interested)) - $15 Soul Caliber 2 (PS2) (I am disappointed we don't get Link or Spawn> !, I'd much rather take Link than Spawn or Tekken-guy, but then again I'd rather have the PS2 controller, I remember enjoying SC1 and have heard lots of good things about 2, and I think as long as I didn't play this game too much I'd keep having fun with it) - $20 Bond: 007 Everything or Nothing (PS2) (though nothing like Golden Eye this game does look promising, as well as the other 2 similar bond games on PS2, but this one looks and sounds like it's better, some of the stuff like the skiing and motorcycling look fun, as well as the stealthier aspects (though still nothing compared to MGS1/2/3 there)) - $18 Thank you! You can probably tell I'm not looking for anything grand and epic, but rather to play some in between using RPGM2. I've replayed ALL the games I have now practically over my time of using RPGM2 and haven't bought a new game since RPGM2 except for FFTA and Disgaea, which I DON'T RECOMMEND AT ALL, ESPECIALLY DISGAEA!!!!, and Fire Emblem, which is quite good and worth the money (I'd say best game of all the GBA). That is all. Thank you very much.

hmmm... id say that you can expect both msg3 and suikoden 4 to remain at 50 bucks for around 6 months, given that they are .... 'super' titles... as for this list: atari greatest hits: i want it. i think its a good buy, esspecially at 6 bucks. Legacy of Kain: soul reaver: a good game, a worthy buy Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance: yes. this is a game you should have played long ago. get it now. Soul Reaver 2: sadly, i cant suggest any of the next gen legacy games. the further they get from blood omen, the worse they got. id probably say skip this one, unless the story has engrossed you. if it has, you should get them all, and play them in order though: Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen 2 (i think, i dont remember) Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2 i always thought raziel was cooler than kain, until i saw just what kind of character kain was, and ... how he functioned. Tenchu 2: ive always been a fan of the tenchu games. you can beat the level quite easily, but they take quite a bit of skill to master, and ive always liked the emphasis on stealth. id say pick it up. Devil May Cry 2: im not going to bother, and neither should you. i am going to say though, that if your thinking of buying the second one, you either played the first one and liked it (and may i ask why? ?) or you havent ever played the first one, so you dont realize how completely horrid the game is. soul caliber 2: i own it. i like it. when i lived in el paso (where there is nothing to do), me and my buddies spent countless weekend hours playing it. i dont think its a game we ever got tired of (my brother borrowed it some months ago, and i havent seen it since). so yeah, this is a go for me too. and yes, it does suck that we get stupid hiehachi. what kinda crap is that. (sorry tekken fans...) anyways... you know, i wasnt really a fan of disgea either. but this seems to be the new trend w/ trpgs. *shrug* there go the good old days, will... i didnt like ffta STORY, but i thought the gameplay, while easy, was fun enough. may i ask what you didnt like about it?

Trust me, Evergrace isn't really good... at all. I played Threads of Fate, and it was okay. The only thing I liked about Evergrace was the fact that the armor showed when you wore it (like Diablo). Rather than that, it was kinda terrible. LoK: Soul Reaver 1 and 2: 1 was also a great game. I rushed through it though, I want to play it again. I want to play LoK: Blood Omen as well. Blood Omen 2 I need to beat as well. Rather than that, I've beaten all of the others. As for Soul Reaver 2, I liked everything about it, puzzles and all. I just didn't like the lack of bosses... oh well. Defiance was really good too, but that wasn't on the list so... I'll shut up about LoK now... Baldurs Gate: I liked the first one, but it's a little too repetitive. This one is kinda the same as the first one. Nothing new in my opinion. Tenchu 2: Birth of the Assassins: I played this one a little, but I think it was Wrath of Heaven I played a lot of. I loved Wrath of Heaven, and I haven't played this one enough to give a rating on. Atari's Greatist Hits: I would definately buy it. I love Pong, Space Invaders, Pac-man, Galaga, and all those old school games. Ahh, they were great... Devil May Cry 2: I heard it was pretty good, but the voice actors are totally different than the first. I loved the first one. I rented the first one, and came extremely close to beating it but, no... I had to take it back. I need to beat that too... can't really give a rating on 2 but I'd love to play it. Soul Caliber 2: Excluding Link and Spawn (PS2 version) it's a great game. Very fun fighting game, probably the best fighting game I have played yet. It can get a little difficult (especially on Very Hard). I can handle Very Hard for a little while but then I just get tossed around. Still... great game, I recommend. Croc: Well... been forever since I played it. Can't say how good/bad it would be. Just trying to get used to the primitive PS1 graphics (most) is extremely difficult. The ones I didn't list I really haven't played. Save the few such as Devil May Cry 2 which I've only heard about. When I think about it... I play too many video games... We're all entitled to our own opinions but I really liked Disgaea. I agree with FFTA which wasn't too great. But Disgaea was pretty awesome in my opinion. Yeah, ok, the dialogue was somewhat corny but it got a lot better near the end. Some of it was annoying too like Laharl's laugh, and Flonne's attitude but I still liked it.

You can't go wrong with the old school classics, assuming of course you liked the old school classics back when they were new school.
Croc is a waste of money. Even for 2 bucks. Don't buy it.
I agree with Ves about the Legacy of Kain games. the fisrt two rocked, and I feel confident enough to say the last installment, Defiance, should you decide on it later is worth the money.
Baldur's Gate is a dungeon crawler with excellent graphics. If you like dungeon crawlers get it.
Half Life is great for multiplayer fun.
Suikoden 2 is a safe bet for sure. I must have played that game a dozen times. Suikoden 3, if you're a fan of the series, will dissapoint you at first, but by the time you reach chapter 3 in the game you'll not want ot put it down.
Don't know about Star Gladiator, never heard of it.
Worm's suck, on any system, ever, period.
I own Tenchu 2 myself. Since you obviously like RPGM2 you'll love the dungeon editor it comes with.
Evergrace is a no no.
If you like the WWf Smackdown I actually suggest buying one of the newer versions. They all control the same and the graphics and list of move, features, options, etc. increase with each new installment.
LOR, this one's all up to you.
DMC2 blew humungous chunks! Get the first game for a midly good time. Get the new third game for a blast!
Soul Caliber 2 is awesome!
MGS 1 & 3 are wonderful, MGS, while it plays and looks beautiful will make you spit at the ty story line.
Also, whatever you do, dont buy Suikoden 4! God, what a waste of money that was!

Thank you everybody for sharing your thoughts!!! ;D
I have a few more questions though, feel free to skip to down to the questions. Thank you!
The story was the main problem, also the imbalance of certain classes, lack of strategy of any kind, little screen (though I try not to let that be an influence), and annoying rule-things (for FFTA), and partly disappointment from FFT's story being so perfect. It's not the worst game I've played but definitely not one of the best. The gameplay was good overall, especially for non-re-released GBA games. The GBA's just a disappointment overall.
I'm pretty sure I'll get_____ Atari Greatest Hits (PS) - $6 Namco Museum Volume 3 (PS) - $8 Croc (PS) - $2 Legacy of Kain, Soul Reaver (PS) - $3 Legacy of Kain, Blood Omen 1 and 2 (PS) on ebay - ? Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance (PS2) - $10 Soul Reaver 2 (PS2) - $8 Half-life (PS2) - $13 Suikoden 2 and 3 on ebay - ? Tenchu 2: Birth of Stealth Assassins (PS) - $3 Soul Caliber 2 (PS2) - $20 Metal Gear Solid 3 (PS2) - $50
A few questions:
What was bad about Devil May Cry 2? If it was the difficulty or not being enough like the first, that doesn't bother me at all. ($15)
Has anyone played the Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (PS2) and what do you think of it? ($10)
Has anyone played Bond: 007 Everything or Nothing (PS2) or either of the other two PS2 Bond games and what do you think of them? ($18)

The problem with DMC2, is that it's just bland. There is no substance, no flair, no awesome one liners. All the tings that made the first one entertaining. The real reason behind these things is that a different development team created DMC2. The orginal team got back together to make the new one DMC3. Don't get me wrong the game is fun to play, it's just not fun to own.

So is DMC3 as hard as the first? Do you think someone who never got past the 4th level or so of DMC1 could have fun with 3 beyond just a few levels?

It's been a while since I played but I can help you if you need it. I haven't played 3 but I really want to. I also gotta beat 2 huh... man I'm behind...

I think I was stuck on the spider boss but I'm not sure. There were a lot of parts that I thought were overly hard like 1) the spider boss, 2) running through the hallway from the spider boss part, and 3) not having infinite continues and having to try to beat the level with as few continues being lost as possible, which was annoying because it usually meant I had to replay a level a few times. It'd be nice if this stuff was better-done in the 3rd, which is mainly why I'm asking.

Dude, you need a walkthrough to help you out. I also suggest a gameshark or action replay. It's not cheating, it's putting the odds more in your favor.

So now the same but with no DMC crud...
I'm pretty sure I'll get_____ Atari Greatest Hits (PS) - $6 Namco Museum Volume 3 (PS) - $8 Croc (PS) - $2 Legacy of Kain, Soul Reaver (PS) - $3 Legacy of Kain, Blood Omen 1 and 2 (PS) on ebay - ? A few questions:
Has anyone played the Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (PS2) and what do you think of it? ($10)
Edit: Thank you, Final Rune. I'll probably get it then.

...
i didnt like anything about devil may cry, found its story ridiculous, its attempt at humor aggravating, and just... dah...
anyways, i played lotr:tt for the gamecube a while back (like a year and a half ago), and while it was mildly entertaining, it didnt have the flair i expected. i also didnt like the character design in the game. legolas' daggers became short swords (!?) and a few other imperfections. but its got some ... psuedo epic battles to it, if thats what your looking for. honestly, id say if its the genre your into, just pick up baldurs gate, as it was much better developed, in my opinion.

Ooo yeah, I hated those two parts. Once you find the pattern, the boss is easy. Running from the spider in the hallway, yeah, that part sucked. Took me a while to beat that part. Guess all's I can say is it takes patience, unless you already passed that part...
Personally, I loved DMC. I agree, the story does kinda...well just plain sucked... I loved the action of it though, it was probably one of my favorite action games. I can get past the crappy story, but while I played it, I had absolutely no clue what was going on throughout the game. The story never really changes, it's the same father demon and mother human gave birth to a "half demon, half human hybrid" and he/she must battle other demons. Maybe it's just me but that is really common for some reason...

Okay. Thank you everyone!!
I'm decided now:
Atari Greatest Hits (PS) - $6 Namco Museum Volume 3 (PS) - $8 Croc (PS) - $2 Legacy of Kain, Soul Reaver (PS) - $3 Legacy of Kain, Blood Omen 1 and 2 (PS) on ebay - ? Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance (PS2) - $10 Soul Reaver 2 (PS2) - $8 Half-life (PS2) - $13 Suikoden 2 and 3 on ebay - ? Tenchu 2: Birth of Stealth Assassins (PS) - $3 Bond: 007, Everything or Nothing (PS2) - $18 Soul Caliber 2 (PS2) - $20 Metal Gear Solid 3 (PS2) - $50
Total - $142 + ebay ones That's pretty good I guess, for all the gaming I'll get from them. Sure beats getting 3 new games.

Nice. I'm glad you didn't go with Evergrace. ;D Money well wasted there.
But anyways, everything looks like it's worth the money. Just be careful on Ebay... sometimes you just can't trust people there.

Ooo, that sucks dude. I just don't trust people, some of them are just (male reproductive organ alternates). Sometimes you'll scroll around and find PS2s with a stack of 30 games for like $4. No joke, I've seen it before lol.

It'd be nice if this stuff was better-done in the 3rd, which is mainly why I'm asking. Wow, you didn't take advantage of his skills? The spider boss Phantom is easy, just spam Air Raid and the shotgun. Running from the boss is even easier, I just abused the Alastor's fast running ability early on in the "race". You can get a boatload of red orbs from it if you kill it in the race to the door. That does mean you get a D rank though, but what's in a letter? Atari Greatest Hits (PS) - $6 Namco Museum Volume 3 (PS) - $8I don't like classic comps that much, but if you like a lot of the old pre SNES stuff, then go for it. Croc (PS) - $2I would've chosen a better one, but if you at least know what Croc's like... Legacy of Kain, Soul Reaver (PS) - $3 Legacy of Kain, Blood Omen 1 and 2 (PS) on ebay - ? Soul Reaver 2 (PS2) - $8All of the LoK games I played were too puzzling, and had little significant action to speak of. Unless you like puzzlers like Alundra(the LoK games are on a different level though), I'd recommend against these. Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance (PS2) - $10Average D&D hack and slash IMO. Unless you like those, I'd forget about it. Half-life (PS2) - $13No comment. I played Half Life 2 though, that was great. Suikoden 2 and 3 on ebay - ?Not my kind of RPGs, but they're great nonetheless. Tenchu 2: Birth of Stealth Assassins (PS) - $3Great for the level editor, but other than that, I'd rather get Wrath of Heaven, Return to Darkness, or Fatal Shadows. Bond: 007, Everything or Nothing (PS2) - $18Like GE in third person. Didn't have the value, but it's a great Bond game, probably the only good one EA cranked out. Soul Caliber 2 (PS2) - $20I'd rather get the Xbox or GC version, but hey, any version of SC 2 is great. Metal Gear Solid 3 (PS2) - $50I didn't think this MGS held a candle close to the other ones, but it's still worth getting if you like the MGS series. Ebay sellers aren't very bad, if you choose the reputable ones and auctions with paypal buyer protection. Out of many auctions, I've only had one that flaked out, and I got my refund back in full.

Soul Reaver is fun, I used to own Suikoden 3, extremely slow, but the anime movie intro is a must see. and is a long game, so you get your moneys worth.
