Invest in a disc repairer. Only buy a motorized one (the ones you move by hand suck).
I've had to repair my RPGM2 disc twice and my MAx Drive disc once.
I don't take good enough care of my discs.

The disc is brand spankin new, first time i took it out of the case though , i can't see a scratch even. maybe my ps2 is getting TOO old.......(thinks to self: bad thought, think positive thoughts....*sigh*)

I take very good care of my disks and I have never had a disk read error. I've up-loaded and down-loaded games dozens of times without a problem, so there must be something wrong with your disk.
Disk care: Always put the disk in the sleave when not in use. Never leave a disk in the PS2 for long periods of time Always hold the disk from the edges or an edge and the center. Never touch the shiny (unlabled) side of the disk. Clean the disk with a soft cloth, wipeing from the inside out. Never wipe in a circular motion.
If it's the PS2, you could try blowing the dust out of the disk drive. Turn it on its side, or even upside down. Shut the PS2 off and unplug it for a few hours - I some times get a disk read error if my PS2 overheats.

Already! but i just took out the disc for the FIRST time 20 minutes ago, and suddenly it showed disc read error.... man this sucks, i'm investing in a Max Drive, cuz then i didn't need to worry about discs much, and i didn't need a cord running from my ps2 to my comp only to show up as a connection problem. ah well, i spose i can try a cleaner, but the question of why it sais it has a error in the connection remains, and i made sure everything was snug, my comp. detected it, and my ps2 usb slots work *i use a keyboard that works perfectly*.

What is the model number of your ps2? It should be 5 digits long and start with a 3 and most likely end with a 1.

it shows: Model no. SCPH-39001. i have no idea what that means, but that's what it shows.

That number means you have one of the newest model releases of the PS2.
In that case, unless your lense is scratched, dusty, or you've dropped the PS2 from a servere height its not the machine.
Did you just buy the X-Port?
How old is it? There should be a copyright date either on its package, or in its manual.
Sometimes older non-consol brand devices don't work with the newest consols. And I realize your PS2 probably isn't new, mine is over three years old and I have the same model number.
But, if memory serves me support for the X-Port has either declined or dropped completely.
Or, worst case senario you simply have a disfuctional disc.

I got my Xport from the drawing awhile back, so it came from the mail. The disc worked 2 times, then it didn't. I don't know whats wrong, and i guess i should just invest in a max drive...

Ah damnit, Doan got the crappy things off eBay or something.
I use a Max Drive and I've never had any problem accessing my saves with it.
It can be dangerous to your memory card if you don't know what you are doing. Check out this thread on the Max Drive to check my warnings.
I wish Sony would just create their own device. The damn lazy bastards.
Go get a max drive and pray where ever you get it will give you a some trade in credit on your unused X-Port.

doansdomain.proboards27.com/index.cgi?board=Help&action=display&thread=1105499021doansdomain.proboards27.com/index.cgi?board=Help&action=display&thread=1109128387These are topics on X-Port usage as well. The older PS2's suck ass monkeys when it comes to the disc read errors but the last 3 or 4 years or so of them have been okay with that. It could also be that the person sold it on ebay because they knew it was defective. For my demo, you may want to wait a week or so and I'll have a new one up. I'll be playing your demo when I put mine up. ;D The X-Port company has gone out of business and stopped production of X-Ports so there's no hope with them helping (and the manual is the biggest ing mother ing er piece of ing I've ever seen). I've also been thinking of getting a max drive, and likely will (to be safe you can just get another memory card and back-up your save before using it too). Good luck with everything.

This is exactly the reason why I'm thankful that I waited a little longer to get my PS2. ;D

I got my Max Drive for $30 bucks at a gamestop and I feel it has been worth every penny.
