I don't think Melancholy is the word for it. Melancholy is "Sadness or depression of the spirits; gloom". I don't get that when I look at it. I think more idk... relaxed, serene for it..? I understand the conditions, which mostly are non-existant but the pic portaighs it well, it just doesn't drw me in.

I don't find that picture melancholy. It reminds me of the type of illustrations that can be found in old novels - which it probably is. Perhaps the scene would seem more melancholy if I knew what was going on in it. as it is, it just seems to be people sitting around an old house.

I can see what Ves means, with it looking melancholy. Maybe not the scene itself, but it almost looks like someone's memory of a time when they were young with there family, a time that they wish they could go back to.
