no one "owns" the pavilion, and no one ever will.
this topic is funny for all the wrong reasons.

By opinion Valk. With all do respect. By opinion.
I do love the pavilion and the mag, since it opened the doors for poeple to release there games. But I like the poeple here best. Plus I am a regular at the Pavilion so its not like I am dissing it.

by opinion? or by fact?
this place has 54 registered members. Pavilion has almost 600. Pavilion also gets over six thousand unique hits per week. Pavilion has over 200 games hosted. Pavilion has been updated since april. many times, in fact. most people ever online at one time here was 15. pavilion was 477.
The ONLY site that has ever taken away the pavilion's top-spot was the short-lived RPG Maker Garden. and they did that by having a damn good site, a big community, FREQUENT UPDATES, and a ton of exclusive content.
you may not like the pavilion as much as this place, thats fine. its a (vastly) smaller community dedicated to only one RPG Maker game. but thats what kills this place's chances of being anywhere near the best in any category. there's only around 20 active members, and many forums can go weeks without a new topic started.
the topic compares SITES. the site here is DEAD. the forum is not. I can understand you saying you think the community is better here, but sites? doan's site hasnt been touched in half a year, so don't go saying doan's site is the best.
EDIT: I understand now that you were most likely talking about the community/forum here, so I apologize for my attitude. since you said "site", I assumed you were actually claiming doan's site to "own" the other sites.

It's our smallness that makes us WAAAAY better in comparison to the pav and mag. We aren't bombarded with noobs or annoying people like other sites. We have some of the best here and we even exist at other sites like the pav, but our clear favorite is here. There is obviously a reason for this... weather your too blind to see it or not.

9. no ego
this is funny for all the wrong reasons...
not that i have anything against valk, but merely observing that right after it was posted, he came to spread the pavilion warmth.

sorry, last I checked I was welcome here, since doan himself asked me to come check this place out when it opened.
I have no complaints about the community here. I think most of you people are awesome. if you wanted to compare COMMUNITIES, maybe the topic shouldnt be comparing SITES. sorry, my mistake that I'm not psychic and cant tell what you mean when you use the wrong words.
and... right after? in what world does "7 days later" equal "right after"?

Supports one RPGM? well, yeah, but we all here seem to be good at it; and when one isn't, other's can help. If I were to ask 'how do you...' for a topic name, and the question was 'omg lol haha cant believe i am asking this but how do you make a script'; I dont have the greater odds of people jumping down my throat and calling me a complete n00b. We'll probably just say "could you stop with the omg and use some grammar"
You have some 600 members, and what, 200 or less actually use a RPGM? Not to be dis respectful, but I do kinda see the Pavilion as more of a joking area rather than an actual discussion/talk about RPGM.
My 2 cents though.

Hey Valk, I mean no disrespect what so ever dood, and I have alot of respect for you man. I just made some gay little topic of why I like the Domain best. And I dont think the Domain has any intentions of one day becoming the best RPG Maker site around. We are a small community and we all have respect for one another. This topic is to name off reasons why alot of us here like this place best. I know you work hard to make the Pavilion the best RPG Maker site around, and I dont have any intentions of ripping you of that. If I didnt like the pavilion I wouldnt be going there. Anyways I mean you and Ixzion no disrespect what so ever.
And about the A-holes, there are some poeple at the pavilion that I dont like. Hell, someone even made a topic just about how he didnt like someone. But I also like alot of poeple there too.
I made this topic so I apoligize for anything sounding disrespectful.
I wish both you and Ixzion my best.

i never said you werent welcome here, but being welcome and actually making a presence are different. your post is onlyto bring rep to your site (rather than actually, you know, participate in the community), which is well and good except that we all have been there.
and right after as in 7 is after 8 is after 9, and your post is after his (right after, immediately after in post order) regardless of how much time has passed between them.
to clarify: this is correct. we have our niche here. we actually like the small amount of well behaved members we have. its quality over quantity in my book. the pav can forever be the largest and most official site. we arent going for granduer here. we are aiming to provide a quality community, thats all. if this topic is offensive to you, im sorry. i dont find it insulting to the other communities in any way (except for a few statements of harsh truth).

400 of our registered members regularly read up on the RPG Maker forums (I can monitor who reads what). also, the 5500+ unregistered users that come obviously arent coming to joke around and talk.
and I didnt come here to bring rep to my site, I thought this topic was ATTACKING my site and the mag. I was wrong.
okay? I was wrong. MISUNDERSTANDING. SORRY.
I used to be more active here until I became to busy with other stuff. dunno what happened to my post count, I know Ive posted more than that.

its probably due to the updates that your post count has been voided (doan and i are neither happy w/ the updates, for reasons such as these). im sorry this was seen as insulting to you. it really isnt about the sites though, as weve now clarified. so can we all play nice?
(this topic will be locked after all parties have said their final piece, but this does not mean you cannot start topics to tell thank you to doan or any other member for providing a quality working environment. this one has just gotten away from its original intent, and is going to get locked.)

yeah... 2 stars and 3 stars... how does that work?
is one set of stars run off of something else besides posts?
and anyway, I end my posting on this topic.

the 3 stars is something doan and i were doing before the update, when we had to do more manually. valk, if you have an idea of how many posts you had, we can change it. i will make a note and change it to at least the minimum for 3 stars as you obviously had that many. and ill scope the forums for all your posts.

I certainly appreciate the praise that the members here are showering upon our forum, and I definitely enjoy the company of all of you.
I am, however, a little disappointed in seeing the course this topic took. Part of what makes this community great is that we don't waste too much effort on stuff that doesn't matter. Sure, we have fun together and discuss all kinds of things, but we certainly do not get into one-sided arguments about what site is best. We know what we're good at and what we like, and that should be enough.
Valk, I'm sorry if you took it as an insult, but seriously, when a topic is named "Why blah-blah OWNS", it is obviously a light-hearted joke. No one here talks like that, but since you check this board maybe a few times a month, I can understand you not knowing that. Sorry if it was taken offensively, knowing bigfoot, I know that's not how it was intended.
Now I know there are some members here with animosity towards the Pavilion for various reasons, and I hope for them that this site can act as a good substitute for what they might get there, or even better, to serve as a primary community and a gateway to some of the useful content that is posted on the Pavilion. I told Valk when I started this place that I was not trying to take away from the Pavilion, and I still mean that today. This is to be a place to fill a niche that I felt wasn't quite covered the way it should be. I am confident that goal has been satisfied, and that we can go on as a good RPGM2 community without bashing others.
As for updates, they really are coming soon. Simply fixing the boards has been a huge effort since the update by ProBoards (as ves indicated), and that has pushed back the update of the actual website. In addition, I plan to change the code of the Domain site again to incorporate CSS (which I should have just learned in the first place), and that, too, is going to take some time.
Valk, I can understand you not liking this topic, but at least no one here was specifically bashing the Pavilion. You took it upon yourself to ridicule me for not updating recently, for having less members, and other things, and I do not appreciate that at all. I am in college, working part time, and all summer I was back home (3 hours away) working in a steel mill to try to help pay my way through college, because my parents certainly can't afford it. I don't know how your life is, and I don't pretend to; if you have the time and ability to make weekly or daily updates, good for you. Unfortunately for me, there are other things in this world that come first, and if you can't understand that (as I believe my members can, I haven't seen many complaints from them), then you're really not welcome here.
I am going to unlock this topic, but if I see any sign of it turning into a shouting match or a thread that is bashing another community, it will be locked again by either me or ves.

Doan and Ves delete every member that hasn't posted within the last month. This is a tremendous factor in the member count differences. Everyone at Doan's is an active member that creates and adds to discussion of all sorts.
Both sites support all the RPG Makers. Saying Doan's only supports RPGM2 because most of the members use it is the same as saying the Pavilion only supports RPGM3 and RPGMXP since most of the members use it. Both are clearly false.
Edit by Doan: Sorry Will, a little inappropriate right now (what I deleted here), especially with what I just said above.

We all have our own unique perspective about the RPGMakers and the community that revolves around them, but in the end we are all the same. We all love RPGMakers, and that is what has brought us together as a community. I'll have to disagree with anyone who'll state that one site/forum/board/community is better than another. It's all just a matter of preference. I got my start on AGETEC's board then transitioned to here then to the Pavilion and finally to the Mag. All of the communities are devoted to sharing our own works of creativity and our combined knowledge of the software. We are a family across nations with no borders or limits other than those we place upon ourselves. The reason many of us feel more at home here is the closeness that this smaller group of enthusiast provide, but that doesn't make us better, just different. RPG Maker games are designed for people everywhere to share themselves (creatively, not figuratively) with each other. Embrace the simple beauty of the fact that we all love the same thing and you'll see that there is no need to argue or compare ourselves against anything but our own limits.
We are a family of strangers.
