just wondering if any band or song influenced anybody in their game-making. also favorite bands or songs or whatever. as far as influences go for me, i'd have to say listening to bands such as Jimmy Eat World and My Chemical Romance sort of gave me ideas. Jimmy Eat World on the lighter side and My Chemical Romance on the more macabre, dark, gothic side. as for other favorites, i'm particularly fond of Silvertide, Taking Back Sunday and The Used. as you can tell, i'm into the punk/emo genre. just figured i'd start a music-related thread, as music is one of the things i am particularly fond of. -the curious smurf

With you guys going around praising Jimmy Eat World, I'd like to hear them myself. They sound really good.

ah yes, you really should. i've never listened to anything on static prevails (didn't even know about this cd), but clarity, bleed american, and futures are all amazing.
of course, all of their singles are great (the middle, sweetness, bleed american, pain, work, etc), but their other stuff is great too (kill, hear you me, futures, polaris, world you love, praise chorus, blister, etc)
alas, i am rambling. check them out for yourself.

i know, i know... ;D
the used is also really good. half they're stuff is screaming (but still good), but the other half it slower and really good stuff. stuff like The Taste of Ink, Blue and Yellow, I Caught Fire (In Your Eyes), and All that I've Got are great songs.
ps The Used is parental advisory, just as a warning (as is MCR and Silvertide)

I don't have any musical influences. I like classical music, early rock, 80's Rock, some easy listening, and a bunch of other stuff. I like U2, The Beatles, Billy Joel, the list goes on.

my family thinks I have the strangest taste in music. I usually don't like alternative, rock, rap, or pop. What I do like most is techno and as odd as it seems, celtic... Just love flutes fiddles and bagpipes.
Perhaps my family is right... Heh.

For me, rock is my all time favorite genre of music. I'm saving up to get my own guitar and I'm gonna learn to play (they're selling them real cheap at this one place).
I like "some" hip-hop and rap (not all of it, though). I guess the same could go with pop (guys in pop suck though. Some of the girls are good).

mxtabs.net
is a good site for guitar tabs. you can use tabs to learn songs instead of trying to read music (which is a pain in the @$$)
basically, a tab shows the strings on the guitar, and what frets to hold down and when.
i'm sure this is all going over your head tho.

im a guitarist in progress. that link is really helpful smurf. my musical influences range from orchestraic (sp??) to rock, rap, blues, and well, a little of everything. just like every other part of my life, i guess.

Aaron (AMP) played guitar and piano too. I've been thinking of taking up piano for a while, but who knows.
I started out with mysongbook.com and guitar pro 4 demo (you can use infinitely without actually purchasing it).
For various jimmy tabs I can point you to certain good ones (often they're off). There are a few jimmy songs I learned myself that I could make a tab for and I haven't seen one online anywhere yet (Just Tonight, Night Drive, Your House, and an alternate way of playing Polaris with normal tuning/capo on 1 instead of all dropped a half-step down) and I could make them for people if you want to.

yeah, i can play some jimmy too. i can play pain front to back, the middle (not the solo, tho) and work, but i can't figure out the chorus to work and it sounds off when i play it with the song.
