RPG MAKER 3!!!

Why is it offical, cuz Rick James says so biatch!

Humor aside I felt with all the upcoming hustle and bustle, RPG Maker 3 (or whatever they plan to call it) needed a home here at the Domain.

Lets put our thoughts of woe or glee here to share with all. I hope this game blows the socks off the RPGM community. I was watching a video for the map editor and it occured to me this thing will make my long hard effort of learning RPGM2's map editor seem trivial by comparison. Have you seen this video its awesome! I can't wait for its release. Lets hope Amazon wasn't too far off from the actual release date Agetec will give us.

P.S. - For those who don't already know, if you hear a rumor, or if your local game store or any online store suggests they know anything about RPGM3, remember they are full of crap. Only Agetec and Valkysas can offer us confirmable facts about this eagerly anticipated title.

Yes, RPG Maker 3 is coming. coming very soon, I might add. Agetec will be making an official announcement within the next few weeks about it. meanwhile, the pavilion is currently working on a large preview article with information on how everything in the maker works.

you may want to keep watching the pavilion for updates direct from agetec. Mark Johnson of agetec/Duhrin has already stopped in once with some info, its likely he'll do it again.

That sounds cool. I hope it has everything that RPGM2 had, but much easier to understand (or the same), and for it to have more customization features (like for graphics and music).

This was always the question about Verge that was never answered. You see, Verge (1) came out and had a handful of preset functions that were useful to just about every game. You could easily compare the prosperity of rpgm1 and Verge 1. Then came Verge 2. The flexibility it allows was amazing... but along with that came virtually no preset material. As you can guess, Verge 2 wimpered out just about like rpgm2 has/will. It took a long time for anything to start moving on Verge 2. As for Verge 3, I don't think it went the same way, so it will be interesting to see if it simply was the simplicity of the first that caught everyone's attention and held it or if some other external factor is what made it more popular.

Either way, they will still have variables and flags. With the conditional branches still intact as well, I wonder how they could actually limit it. If the graphics (and maybe accompanying maps/enemies/characters) are the only things limiting, I'd take that trade. Either way I'll probably be picking it up (and, I guess keeping my ps2 and xport instead of selling them).

This site called World Lingo can translate the site for you. It's not perfect, and graphical text won't be effected, but it's better than nothing. Sadly, several of the links won't work from inside the translated page because of the way their links work.

Also, for those that don't do it themselves, I will keep a constant eye out for new info on the Pavilion Boards and add new links to the information as it comes available, and a thanks to Valkysas and the Pavilion for there constatn support to the RPGMaker Community.

make sure you dont copy information that I, or agetec post at the pavilion here. we've had a lot of problems with IGN stealing our preview info. now, currently, we're protected from that. (IGN's domain is blocked from the pavilion's server) but if you re-post info here or anywhere else, they can and will copy it.

That won't happen. I'll only link to info on the Pavilion. I will not be responsible for info theft, and I'm sure that if it does happen vespuleth will make quick work of the idiot that does it.

what do you mean? it's IGN.com that steals info from fansites. if anyone would retaliate against them, well... they'd be in big legal trouble.

No one from the Domain will make the error of 'stealing' information from the Pavilion. I was implying that should one of our members mistakenly repost infomation here that vespuleth would surely delete said posts and repremand the offender.

So this goes out as an official warning to all Domain members - DO NOT REPOST PAVILION INFO - pertaining to RPGM3 or anything else.

All relevant information will have a link posted to forward you to it. I would suggest that if you found something out on your own that you would be free to post it, but since Valk and the Pavilion will always get this kind of information first I don't think that situation will occur.

Mark has specifically stated that this isn't the case with RPG Maker 3. Unfortunate.

What does everyone anticipate doing upon the release of RPGM3? I know that while a lot of us are nowhere near completion of our RPGM2 games, we've put so much work into them! Do you think you'll scrap what you're working on in favor of creating a game in RPGM3, or do you think there'll still be a devout (albeit probably a bit smaller) RPMG2 community, somewhat like there is for RPGM1?

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited about the release of RPMG3... I'm just pretty sure I won't have my game done by then, and wonder if people would still want to play it if it wasn't created using the newest technology. Oh well... I still play all of my old 8-bit Nintendo games, and would play the Atari all the time as well, if I could get it ressurected. So, maybe there's SOMETHING to be said about older games.

RPG Maker 1 still has an active userbase. so I dont see why RPG Maker 2 can't thrive while RPG Maker 3 is on the market.

also, mark hinted at doing an update to RPG Maker 2.

I'm really looking forward to RPGM3, too. I just hope the graphics are a bit less childish looking. No offense to RPGM2 though, it made a huge improvement over the original in hundreds of ways, especially the graphics.

I was watching the videos on enterbrain and I noticed some element about RPGM3 that need mentioning.

In Video One (It All Starts Here) I noticed the following:

• at 0:24 you can see the enemy actaully falling down when its beaten
  
• at 0:38 you can see that interiors actually have ceilings
  
• at 0:49 you can see that dungeons have about a 20ft draw distance and that the walls fade in - no pop up
  

In Video Two (Big Wide World) I noticed the following:

• at 0:19 Ther is an 'undo' button on the map editor screen
  
• at 0:31 you can see two bars to the right and below the main screen that show the elevation of the land as you edit it
  
• Um, and is it just me or are all the trees flat?
  

In Video Three (Dungeon Crawling) I noticed the following:

• at um ok, I really couldn't find anything to point out in this one, but it does show how easy dungeon creation can be, plus a slew of different traps that cap be used. Sadly, it looks like each dungeon level has to be flat.

In Video Four (Small Town Run Around) I noticed the following:

• at 0:14 you can see an exclaimation point when the PC approaches a NPC - possibly meaing this NPC is important or this could be standard for character interaction
  
• at 0:42 you can see that the HUD is showing a compass and time of day display
  
• at 0:52 you can see red ballon question marks - what this is for I don't have a clue
  
• at 0:56 you can see a real time weather shift from sunny to snowy
  
• at 1:00 you can a gloomy sky over a creepy looking castle entrance
  
• at 1:02 you can see clouds and mountains in the distance beyond the egde of the town
  

In Video Five (Turn Based Battle) I noticed the following:

• at 0:30 you can see a fighter wielding a wood pole, showing that multiple weapons can be used by cahracters ingame
  
• at 1:00 you can see an enemy unit placement editor showing nine available slots for enemy positions
  
• at 1:05 you can see a dragon rearing up - a possible enemy action intro
  
• at 1:12 you can see a 'trent' character as well as a (I'm assuming) skeleton/bird character fighting the enemy - showing that monsters can plays as characters too
  

In Video Six (Extras Stuff) I noticed the following:

• at 0:02 you can see the lamp above a bookself casting real enviromental lighting
  
• at 0:14 you can see a rotating card against a black and white background image - possibly an item examine screen or a flashback
  
• at 0:33 you can see an interior with different heights
  

So there you have it, I hope this points out somethings you may have missed yourself. Now, everyone stop drooling, you'll ruin your keyboard!

The graphics are very 'adult' I guess you could say. Its all very much like a DnD kind of look. I think it'll make great games, just as RPGM1 did/does and as RPGM2 is still doing.

Though exciting, this game could be as disapointing as fighter maker 2. If I cant customize or color character models, I dont really see how any games of ours can be innovative and original, even in rpgm1 you can make your own sprites, I just hope this game has at least just as much to offer as rpgm2.

Yeah, there was a lack of actual originality. But that's what happens when a program is easy to use, and people won't try to make their games really unique.

most of the best and most unique games in RPG Maker 1 used the default sprites and such, so I dont see a reason that would be a problem this time.

I think some of my best work was when I used some editing for my RPGM1 games. I had that link looking guy, and then made an alternate model for him where half his body was gone which I used for when he was in water! It was awesome. W/ RPGM1 I never used the defualt battle system I always made my own or didn't have one. And now with #2 I fond myself same thing, I make active battle systems and things of the such. To Me, being able to create your own systems and things is the greatest and I hate limits and woulf rather have it overly complex and confusing. Just takes more time to figure out, but is worth it.
