Not exactly sure, but here goes. I started off with trying to create a big game idea I came up with for C++. That didn't last long, since I knew limited coding (only took a semester course in the last year of High School). Then somewhere I heard about RPG Maker 2000. I downloaded it, not knowing why it was illegal. I heard it was, but I thought it was because it was based off an existing series. I didn't know it was a pirated game until later. But when I did have it, I had some fun with it, and restarted work on the game I mentioned, where the idea started to take real form, with a dragon slaying agency ran by a guy who REALLY hated dragons and another guy who didn't believe in dragons, and the agency was right by a whole town that didn't believe in dragons. (Sound familiar anyone?)
Anyway, after I found out about how RM2K was illegal, I got rid of it and found a new copy of RPGM1 for $40. I had high hopes for it, as I was expecting something as good as RM2K, and the pics I've seen looked pretty impressive. Too bad they were of sample maps that you couldn't recreate, and one screen looked like there was a battle background for the battle system, when all the screen did for battles was fade out slightly. And the limitations quickly became real obvious. But I didn't care. I started work on that game again, but then decided I might want to work on a different game instead of my big game. Thus Elements of Darkness was born. Wasn't finished, though. And anybody who's been at the Pavilion long enough knows the rest. I started work on the big game, went to something else, big game, something else, so forth, with maybe an extra something else from time to time, until I FINALLY finished a game (though unfortunately not my big game), starring a knight on a quest to retrieve a clown's trophies.
RPGM2, I was there when it was announced, and I awaited anciously for it like a bunch of people. Except I didn't wait until later on, 'cause I wanted to work on other stuff for RPGM1 before it came out. It came out, I at one point started working on my big game again, but despised the complex system and the inability to make real custom graphics. The big game then moved to...er, nevermind, that's another story.

It was a demo you released? Okay, then you'll probably want to know that not a lot of people play demos, as far as I know. I normally don't, at least. You'll most likely get more people playing your game once you release a finished version. This is coming from experience, BTW.

Hmm, I kinda like the uneducated characters. The ones who don't know much about the world outside their hometown, save for any stories they might've heard. That way, the character's learning of the world in turn helps myself understand the world.
Of course, even with a character that knows the world around him, I tend to be very specific about the world just for the player, even though what's said may be totally obvious to the characters explaining it.

By the time I reached the end of Fu-Ma... Bleh.
Even though it's a sample game, I was expecting more. Personally, I liked Gobli better. The story in that game had more personality. This one, the only time the story got interesting was when Jadece is released and when you finally reach the final battle. And being lost at sea is made all the more irritating when you're thrust into battle every few seconds. Even worse when running away seems to work less and less the more you use it.

I remember those screens. I don't know what game that was (or who made it), but it certainly looks more interesting than Fu-Ma.

Well for starters, it has one of the best and most detailed stories I've seen on RPGM1 (most stories I've seen were sort of Dragon Warrior-like, where the cutscenes are real short and there usually wasn't much emotion involved). It's been a while, but the story involved a guy who finds himself against a city full of zombies. Kinda like Resident Evil in that regard, especially since, though it uses turn-based battles, ammo is. It also has a bunch of mini-games. Some fun, some not. One or two being impossible to lose. Mostly it was the locations and the story that really caught my attention. And the gameplay was good enough that it didn't detract from the game.
I haven't played many RPGM1 games, though, so any game I might play eventually could top this one.

I've always wanted to write my own story. Writing stories is my favorite part of creating an RPG. Don't know how good I am at storytelling, though. I'd have to show something off at first. Although, there was one story I was showing off as a work-in-process at the Pavilion, called "Aura's Jewel". I got two good comments out of the 12 (I think) chapters I had written so far; one was for the foreshadowing at the end of Chapter 5 and the other was for an exciting car chase that followed two or three relatively boring chapters. It was all written on the fly, so it didn't have any advantages of stories that are otherwise planned out. Never got around to finishing the story. The hardest part for me is writing exciting fight scenes. I have such a hard time describing what goes on in a fight much beyond Guy A threw a punch at Guy B, who dodged the attack, did a backflip, and threw a dart back at Guy A. That's why I like writing stories for RPGs a bit better. Not only can the player see what's going on, but the battles don't have to be so complex unless it's a real-time battle (which I don't think I did too bad a job).

The following is from my game's included instruction manual.
Probably not the best way of presenting the idea, but it's a start.

I, too, am interested in what sites you'll be listing. I like Geocities myself (where my web site is at), but if there's something better that has features I may want, I might move to it. Though, creating that Jester's Hunt site was such a hassle (arranging it, that is). I'd hate to have to do that all over again.

Yup, reading about others' games or getting comments on your own is the fuel one really needs to get going on their games.

My real name is Nathan Ferry. (But keep calling me Draygone anyway, as I like that name much much better. ) I've been out of school for three years and am currently working at Wendy's, which both has its upsides and downsides (good food and poor hours when you're working the dining room). My interests include several things. Firstly, there's video games. I usually prefer certain types of games, but over the past few years my interests have broadened with a little help from other people and from Nintendo games (interests in first-person shooters began with Banjo-Tooie, interests in fighters began with Smash Bros., interests in RPGs began with Super Mario RPG). Most recently I have become interested in games like Resident Evil, partly because of the survival, but also because of the exploration and puzzle solving. Also I'm currently getting more and more interested in Tactical RPGs and am currently looking forward to the GameCube Fire Emblem. Who knows, I might create my own someday. I currently own RPGM1, RPGM2, and RMXP. In order from most to least favorite, it would probably be RPGM1, RMXP, and RPGM2. Though, I've barely used either of the latter two. For some reason I just can't keep away from RPGM1 for very long. And yet, at the same time, I am one of the most indecisive RPGMers ever, and can never stick with a project (some people here have dubbed it, the Draygone Syndrome : . I've owned RPGM1 since 2002, and the only game I finished for it, I didn't spend more than 2 months on. Right now, I'm trying to create something new for it, and while I'm some distance away from having a playable version, things seem to be going okay so far, at least until I get a new idea that I want to do. Oh, and my company name is Great Dragon Gaming, and I'm currently the president and only member of it, as is the case with most RPGMers' companies. I pay myself $500,000 a year. Outside of video games, I've lost much interest in television. I'll watch it when eating (and can still have a little trouble getting away from the TV when doing so) or when I have nothing better to do (or want to do), but other than that, I'll either be playing games, working on games, or surfing the net. Speaking of which, I am very interested in web comics, and I have 10 or 11 listed in my favorites list. I have to limit myself, because I find them so addicting, that if I find a new one I like, I would easily spend half the day or longer reading through the entire archive. My favorite webcomic right now is Dan and Mab's Furry Adventures, at www.missmab.com, which is currently at 456 strips. Besides this forum, I go to five others, including RPG Maker Pavilion, Agetec, RPG Maker Magazine, RPGamer, and an otherkin forum. I hold a large interest in otherkin, too. Not really one of them, but they let me hang out at that forum anyway. My biggest interests are dragons. While not uncommon, dragons are my favorite mythological creatures. If I could afford to do so, I'd probably collect dragon stuff, including any game where a dragon played a major role. (Panzer Dragoon. *drool*) I'm also interested in the magical arts, especially shapeshifting, though I wouldn't dare try any of the techniques I've read about, whether they're true or not. I am also a Christian. Not a dedicated one, but more of a casual one. And certainly not one of those close-minded ones that try to force feed Christianity down people's mouths. Though somewhat open-minded, I am very against a few practices, but not so much that I'd rant about how wrong I feel they are (not often, anyway , as I don't like to start flame wars. Actually, I don't like talking much about political stuff in general. I tried getting into those sort of conversations, but I just couldn't take it. I also have some memory problems. Like oftentimes I'll remember something, and I tell myself that I need to do it when I'm a couple minutes from doing so. Five minutes later, I remember that I needed to do it. I have very short-term memory with some things. I think it partially has to do with some memory loss I experienced as a kid. It was my sister's b-day party, and I was leaving my room, when I tripped over a footstool and hit my head on the floor (I assume). At least, that's what everyone tells me. All I can remember was getting ready to leave my room, and "waking up" to hear someone crying, only to find out it was me who was crying and I was on the floor. It was actually kind of a cool experience, but nothing I'd want to happen again. Anyway, that's all I can think of to post. If there's more, maybe I'll post some more.

You talking about the easiness of RPGM1 or 2? RPGM1 is easy, definately. I picked it up, learned it within a day. Some of the options I still don't really know about (most notably the ones I never use, like the Abilities in the Skill system and some of the spell effects). I still like it, and would like to someday create an RPG on it.

It looks like the warrior and old man (and maybe the dwarf) are facing off against the Death (and maybe the skeleton). You can't do that (having your party shown facing off against monsters instead of just the first-person view) without knowing how to edit the DBS a good amount.

Nope, the only possible translation would be if Agetec brought it here. Or, some similar company, but most likely Agetec.
I won't be importing it for certain. For one, it's in Japanese. For another, nobody would be able to play the games I make on it. Lastly, this has a high chance of coming here. It's ease of use (and somewhat limited features it seems) means it would be much easier to localize it, so Agetec bringing it over seems pretty likely to me.

Gummi Bears, Duck Tales, Rescue Rangers, Tale Spin, Darkwing Duck, Goof Troop, Bonkers, and Quack Pack. All were part of the Disney Afternoon, which around here at least, aired on the channel that would eventually become The WB. Ugh, Kids' WB really sucks compared to Disney Afternoon. I'm glad we recently got digital cable with Toon Disney on it, though it sucks that a few weeks afterwards most of these shows were taken off the air. I guess I'll have to settle for those DVDs with every episode of Rescue Rangers on them. But I really wish I had gotten at least the multi-part episodes of Duck Tales down. (Gummi Bears, I could care less about, though when that was on air on Disney Afternoon I couldn't see it very often since I got home from school as the show was ending; I remember the theme song, though.)
And yes, DW is also character in some show on PBS. Arthur, I think. But every time I see DW, I'll think of Darkwing Duck. Unless we're talking about video games, in which case I'll think of Dragon Warrior.
Slayers' Reign. I've created, scratched, and recreated that game so many times. Yes, the whole game. Well, the first couple of hours of it, anyway. I've still got most of the plans in my head, though I'm afraid if I don't get them written down soon something bad'll happen like I'll get in a wreck and have memory loss. Anyway, I think the biggest reason why I kept scratching the game was because I wanted to try my hand at something else. There was one time I scratched it because it wasn't good enough, and that was because all it was was story, wandering, and battles, which doesn't really amount to much fun.

I did it! I found my first post at the Pavilion! p081.ezboard.com/frpgmakerpavilionboardfrm270.showMessage?topicID=106.topicThat demo's still at the Pav, too. (In the full games section, under the name Dark Elements. Don't ask why.) Shame I didn't mention how I found the Pav or RPGM. I think either I found out about it at RPG Maker Garden, or at the old Enix boards. The Enix boards was where I found out about RPGM in the first place. When I asked about RPGM, someone pointed me to the Garden and the Pav. I think I wound up preferring the Garden, though I didn't bother with posting in their boards (if they had any). When the Garden went down, I was forced into the Pavilion, and joined the boards sometime after that. Dunno what the timespan was from finding out about RPGM to joining. I know by the end of November 2001, I knew about the series, 'cause I had downloaded RM2K when I didn't know about it being pirated. I found out, and got rid of it soon after. I think I got RPGM1 in March 2002. I was so excited when I got it. I remember, at the same time, my cousin got Grand Theft Auto 3 (he had to give me the money to buy it since he was underaged). I think. Anyway, safe to say that it was a $40 well spent. It was a new, sealed package, too. The funny thing is, I had trouble creating my games even back then. "Not to mention the 8th or 9th RPG I've attempted to make. All the others I either got bored of, thought weren't good enough, or just would to be way too big. (The latter being my big RPG series being planned.)" Although I have to wonder if I really went through that many, or I was exaggerating. I don't really remember what they were. I just can't believe I've come all this way, and only finished one game. I'm gonna have to work on that. Amazing what one can find in those archives, though. Hmm, here's the Smitpok "yes" 4-$ topic. ...And here's a topic for the sequel. I think I remember that one. Dang, the impression you left with that being one of the first of your posts I read.

Come to think of it, wasn't there a Jugem's Cloud item in Super Mario 3? That's kinda interesting. I wonder why they didn't call it Lakitu's Cloud.

I think I may have already mentioned this, but just in case.
I took the word "dragon" and added a "y" and an "e". The interesting thing is, I later found out that Draygone is a real word/name (one person e-mailed me telling me about this), and means "heart of a dragon". Not only a coincidence that I created the word from "dragon", but also because I'm a dragon fanatic.
