* Yup, you got the idea. I really like 1 and 3 the best.
I really don't like 2 that much. I like my characters to take a stand. I think 2 would while be tragic and get the point across might not be the best to state the moral. I think the main charcter should flee the country because he/she makes the right decision even though they may seem to be a traitor to his/her allies.
3 would be good because it shows that the nation's leader has a moral standing agianst killing other people. It shows that he is upset by all the killings even though he understands he had no other choice.

Glad to help, considering all the times you helped me with scripting. ;D
Have you thought about using Fear as one of the themes? It could teach people to understand something they fear rather than attack it. I hope that sounds right.

How about Greed? Say a King is so infactuated with wealth that he rages war on other countries and ends up loosing everything. The theme could be Greed gets you nothing.

I've had a major set back. I was reviewing my map for Rune Island and my outline for my story. That is when it hit me! I'll have the player criss crossing the island. It made no sense to have them going from the north part of the island to the central part of the island, and then to the south part of the island, to the center, and then back to the north part of the island. I have no idea what I was thinking. So I either need to change my world map or my story. Not sure which I'm going to do though. I might even need to remove some characters. EDIT: I had a creative burst about 10:30 pm and was able to work out the problem. In fact I think that it improved the flow of the story. ;D

One of the themes could be not giving up on hope. Like things could be bad but if we keep fighting we could make it right. For example say a big Nation took over a smaller country and started to treat them badly. Now after years of abuse the smaller nation decides to take matters into there own hands and free themselves from the big nation's tyranny.

Well you both have just blown great big holes in my theory. Good example nate and Lost in thought.

That really all depends on the story. If you want to use the relationship to be a weakness or a strength for the character then it should be important part of the story.
I really don't care either way. The only flaw I could see is that some people might be put off by that. Mostly the closed minded ones.
Yes! Because no one can spend there entire lives without forming relationships. Plus I think it gives the characters added dimension and makes them more realistic.

I would have to say Idea. To me an attribute is more of a characteristic. For example you either have courage or you don't. An attribute is not going to change due to the situation such has a value of something will.

Sorry, I'm more of a Cheese Fries girl!
You don't know how long and hard I thought about those items. I think it was a month and a half before I completed that list.
Thanks! Progress has been slow, but progress is progress.
Now I only need to come up with the magical items, weapons and armor! ;D

It's been a long time, but I finally got some time to work on my project.Coming up with items for this game was very hard. Most of the items that I could think of came from other RPGs. So I used my favorite spot to eat at for the items. I came up with these ideas while eating at Outback steakhouse. So the items have a bar theme:
Chips - recover 25% of your hp.
Hot Wings - Recover 50% of your hp.
Cheese Fries - Recover 100% of your hp.
Veggie - Revive with 50% of your hp.
Fruit - Revive with all of your hp.
Soda - Recover 25% of your mp.
Whiskey - Recover all of your mp.
Beer - Recover 50% of your mp.
Chicken soup - cures poison.
Warm Blanket - cures stun.
Frankincense - cures cursed.
Angelsword flower - cures seal.
Zapper - cures sleep.
You can purchases these item in either the cafe or a bar.

Okay, awhile a go I talked about making a character creation guide. Well it has changed into more of a General Game creation guide. I was wonder if anybody would be willing to give me some help in making it. I would like some volunteers to help proof read the guide for me because I'm terrible at this task. Plus any feed back on how to make the guide better would be greatly appreciated.
If you are willing please let me know and I will pm with the rough draft of the guide. Right now I have the introduction section done. Thanks in advance for any help.

I've read awhile back on making your main character invisible during a cut scene and making an event to act as the main character. My question is can you do this without fading out the screen. I mean I think it would a little funny having the character disappear and then suddenly reappear a second later.
Or is there something I'm overlooking, because I sometimes like to have the game go right into a cut scene without fading out. I think it gives more drama to the game.

Thanks. I think it will make the world feel more realistic. However, this being the biggest sales time in retail it will be awhile before I get to test it out. Well at least I'm able to squeeze some planning time in to my crazy work hours of work.

I was thinking about making a script that would work with the battle system that would allow the weather to affect the hero characters . I think it would just make the game more life like. Here is what I have so far:
If it was raining it would bring the character's strength down. Cloudy or sunny weather would not have any effect on the characters. Fog would bring accuracy down. And snow would bring agility down.
I was thinking about using the sort branch script and apply ifs to run the script.
I'm also thinking about making a script that would allow outside influences to affect the party. There again using the sort branch option. For example loosing hp by touching a poisonous plant, getting hit by lightening which would lower mp, or by having a thief steal and item or goal from a party member.

Thanks for the help. The site seems to be very helpful. I thought of looking online for a site that did nothing but names.

After some down time with the flu and after reading the Dungeon and Dragons: Dungeon Master's Guide, I realized how bad my game was. To me there seemed to be no really major threats to drive the story on, and little if any interaction with the outside world. So I'm making some major changes.
- Westly is getting a new name and is no longer a scout but a barmaid, who is really an informant.
- Two groups are in a power struggle. One wants to revive an ancient monster in the hopes that it will stop it's enemies, while the other group is trying to stop them believing that the monster will lead the world into total darkness.
- Po is no longer going to be a character. Instead Riven the wolf demon will have a bigger role in the game.
- Chen Zen will not only be a monk. but at one point was a ninja.
- There will also be more character interactions with NPCs. Plus I will be throwing the player right into the action.
The game is still being called Sword of Vengeance, and the main part of the story will focus on finding a way to stop the death of the main character who pulled the Sword of Vengeance from it's resting spot before it destroys her.
Any suggestions on a new name for Westly ( something to do with nature ) and any for the name of the two feuding groups?

Has anyone used the computer program Blender? I found the Blender Program and Introducing Character Animation with Blender at Boarders for about $40 bucks and decided to give it a try. I've only read the first chapter which just goes over the layout. I have looked over some of the sample movies and it seems to be pretty powerful. I have no computer animation experience so this is really going to be a challenge ;D.

I checked and I do have the direct effect set to enemy only.
I'm still having trouble getting my direct effect to work. Instead of my monster escaping one of my party members run away. Here is my script:
Script Content type is Content
Battle: Change back to active character text clear message Target data: Action status apply (Flee) Script call: Target Name ( I have also tried Instigator name) Text message : Runs away. SFX
