So, I wanted to ask: To those who've played my demo, do you think a should release another one that goes about half way through the game, or just save it all until I get the whole thing finished?Of course you should release multiple demos as you go, unless you are supremely confident of not only your abilities to create flawless scripts, but also of your knowledge of what people want to see or will find too hard (remember The Poopy Pyramid... I was confused at first when folks said it was hard to find... I added a third choice that simply says NO to the two choices at the cannon to make the "You Must Be Mad" option stand out more... That may make it easier to find). The point is that until you get feedback you never really know if what you are doing is missing something. Good luck with it. Oh yeah: "I was also pleased to see another Weird Warp effect. I'm glad I'm not the only one who does that stuff." What do you mean by this? In the demo of Pandora's Box the warp points spin you around before warping. In The Clean Underwear Quest I distort the character model for warps (stertching and squishing). I like the idea of playing around with such things and therefore I was pleased to see others doing so. Peace.

I played your demo and found it to be truly fine.
I loved the environments and the look of the main character. I was also pleased to see another Weird Warp effect. I'm glad I'm not the only one who does that stuff.
I could not find my strategy guide, so I did not get far, but will when I locate it.
Great job on the whole concept too. The way everything works together is impressive.
I look forward to finding my guide and finishing the demo.
I'll let you know if I get stuck for reasons other than lack of reference.
Peace.

Well, an actual game!
Now I have two of your demos to check out this weekend.
I'm gonna have spare time for gaming this weekend and my list just keeps growing. I guess that's a good thing.
It makes me nervous though... whenever I make plans to relax and ignore the world for a day, something horrible seems to happen. I better just shut up.
I'll let you know hoe it goes.
Peace.

Well that certainly gets around syncing the skull motion with the movement of the model.
Try adding another feather to the sythe, rotated 90 degrees (easily done with copy and paste!). It will look better at all angles. That is wise when using any 2D element if it will be seen in 3D.
Nice idea.
I THINK I'LL STEAL IT!!
NOONE WILL EVER KNOW!!!

Were you able to get the animation to sync?
I only got the wait motion to look good on one of the four (and the hood still overlaps a little of the skull at one extreme, but it's minor).
That took a long time.
I can't imagine syncing up all the motions, but it would be quite the accomplishment.
I wasn't even planning on using him for anything.
I was just playing (this is a game after all...).
But I thought some folks would get a kick out of him, so I posted him.
It's hard to see, but one has a red head underneath and the lines that look black are really dark red.
Looks cool on the screen.
Peace.

Has anybody thought to customize the Death character model along these lines? Just curious if this is an original idea or if someone beat me to it (like with many of my "Original Ideas"). Peace.

I'm trying to recall the last time I saved, Is any of this in your demo files? I'm sure people here may still have their copies. I still have mine on my PC if you need it, but it's older than your more recent demos.. I lost a few weeks work that way once. I bought an extra memory card after that and now keep two copies of darn near every days' work. Good luck. I'd hate to see it lost. Peace.

Well, I finally gave this game a shot and was really impressed.
As you may know, my only exposure to Zelda to date is Doylemans demo, so I have no comparisons to draw... but I can tell you it works great as a stand-alone project.
I was impressed by the "functionality" of the ACBS and items. The single button attack scripting is very impressive. The shield looked cool.
I did not have time to finish the demo as it took me quite some time to get by a couple challenges and I was working on my own project (I had a "moment of clarity" and created a new demo for a new game over the weekend) (it even has an IACBS thingy... that's Imitation Active Custom Battle System, as well as a MDBS).
I read that you made some updates to the demo already. I downloaded my copy a week or two ago and may have an older version.
I'll check the updated version soon.
Great work! I look forward to seeing more.
Peace.

I ended up working on my car for the last time (I'm getting a new one next week... ).
So I had to put off examining your teaser until next week (I'm off all week for the week of July 4th unless I get called in for an emergency, which can't happen during the three days I'll be traveling!)
Anyway, I will be playing and reviewing... just not for a week.
I did not want you to think I ignored your stuff after running in to a problem (the link thing) (NO!! Not Him... The Internet Link in the post up top!).
Peace.

I tried to download your teaser and got the following message:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e14'
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Procedure 'sp_maxdrive_select_community_get' expects parameter '@mp_game_id', which was not supplied.
/saves_showmaxdrive.asp, line 37
I have no idea if this means a problem with my computer or with your link/file, but I thought you should know.
I was looking forward to this because I will not have time to play your full game for a while yet, so I'm sticking to demos for now (I only work half days... just 7 to 7) (it's just for a couple months, but the overtime is not to be passed up!).
Anyway, I think you know that I have never played a Zelda game (except for Doyleman's demo). So you can rest assured that when I do play it, my review will be from a unique perspective... I have nothing to which to compare it!
I look forward to a playable demo!
Peace.
++++++++++++++++ EDIT: ++++++++++++++++
OK, I figured it out... The link does not cover the entire line of text in your post. Notice the color change in the middle (ok, near the end) of the URL.
I copied and pasted the whole line to my browser, and it worked.
I'll post some comments after I check it out.
Peace.

Poo-PS2 Update...
Got it back and it powered up, and started making loud noises!
It was clicking at me!
It's going back!
If I do not have it for this weekend (that means Thursday Night so I get the FULL weekend for my mischief) I'll pass on the file.
I still have the one Bigfoot sent on my PC.
End Update.

AAAAAAAAAA!!
My PS2 is Dead!!
I will be taking it to my friend who fixes electronic stuff later today.
This just cost me any hope of finishing this weekend though.
If the next person wants to jump in, I can post again when I get back to full functionality and just take my belated turn then (or move to the end and be given the glory of Ending the World!

Wow!
But...
We need Guidelines!
I am a MEMORY PIG with VFX!
Think about how many people will be involved or just set an arbitrary memory use limit.
Else I may surprise you with how fast I can fill a card with graphic storytelling!

I'm guilty of the same thing.
But I am off work next week and plan on playing a few demos, starting creation of one for what exists from the second half of my game, and more debugging.
Your demo, Nash's demo, and Doan's are at the top of my list I am holding off on playing any people's full games until I finish my own. I just do not have enough time.
I'll post feedback after I play it... it would be silly to post anything now.
But I just posted something!!
Oh well, so I'm silly.
Peace.

It is a bit different then when I used it in an HTML document as a BG Color with Black text.
I'll play around and let you know at the same time as the banner URL. Kinda conserves effort that way.
Thanks again!

Thanks Doan!
That's what I call Super Service!
I'll have a banner in the next day or 2. You know us finicky artists... I may get it on the first try, but I doubt it.
Peace.

Finally... Well, my Screenshot and mpg File Service has wound up causing me to show up as staff over at the Pavilion, and with the upcoming release of the first draft of the Unofficial VFX Editor Guide I have reached a decision. I think I would like my own forum after all. Can't be staff there and not here... I have so many projects at this point that it might be nice to have all the threads in one place. There is no hurry on this. It would be great to have it ready for the VD release of the First Draft VFX Guide {VD is Valentines Day} ... {Yes it is!}. Here is a list of 6 threads I would like moved there if it is not inconvenient: The Clean Underwear Quest BUGS IN MY UNDERWEAR!mpg files from The Clean Underwear Quest! Videogamedrome Demo The Second Videogamedrome Screenshots/Video Demo! MPEG format Official VFX Editor Guide / FAQ In The Works! I need to make a banner! And now for the Grand Finale: I need a name for the Forum... I was going to use a sacred word that is used for top secret stuff, but then it would be bottom secret! So, it is either Long Hair Games or Fluffy Kine (Kine is an archaic plural of Cow), or a simple "MOO!" (Hey, at least I'm not going with Pancreata Productions) (Pancreata is the plural of Pancreas). I think "MOO!" has the lowest confusion factor. So it's my first choice... unless I can make a cool flower - power style psychedelic banner, then it'll be Long Hair Games. I'm not particular, so if you have time to make it, just use "MOO!" unless a banner exists by that time. I was thinking of asking that Stop Motion Animation be moved there too, but I have a better idea. I mentioned this in Bigfoot's Pencil Drawings thread and I think it deserves consideration. Perhaps we should create a forum for member art. It could have the above mentioned thread, DungeonWarden's Animation thread, my Stop Motion Animation thread, and more. I recall Nash posting some Nashimation and I am sure we have more closet artists we can provoke into sharing some of their work if such a forum existed. Maybe make a poll question if you are unsure of the idea. It would show if there is interest. I don't think that was off topic as this is the place for suggestion s, and that's another plural! And for an encore, I think "#FEDBCA" is a nice color for my user name's new personality (forumitized). It's a sort of peachy color. Peace. <><><> EDIT: <><><> Bigfoot convinced me with a PM. Go with Long Hair Games. I'll make a Psychedelic Banner. Gotta go make 1960's Hippy Imagery...

Or....you could do an even simpler way that I figured out... That's simpler than turning on a flag? Plus, not to be too critical, but it is inaccurate. Without Game Info Load, your party direction will not be the current value. Plus, game info load has nothing to do with the warp sound. It is coming from the default exit map script, so if you have no script there loading the game info can not possibly effect the sound.
