I have worked on this numerous times but I still haven't figured out how this would work. Tech Items are a special feature in my game. They are Items that you can find or buy to teach abilities to certain members.
For Exampe: Object 1 will teach Character 1 the magic ability Fire. But Character 2 cannot learn Fire.
However, Character 2 can learn Ice from Object 2 but Character 1 can't learn Ice.
It goes like that. If you have any ideas on how I could make this work, it would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry I couldn't help you!

No, I remember when I first started scripting, the first conversation I made got me so pumped up. I was so happy.
About flags, I will make an example for you to use later.

Wow, thanks for the info on the music. I'll have to try that out! ;D
However, I have yet to figure out the second problem I have and its getting me angry because I don't think I am doing anything wrong. Here is the entire opening screen script.
Other: Wait 75 F Sound: BGM [Explore 1] Camera: Distance=800 150 F Other: Wait 40 F Script Control: Apply Together Sound: SFX [Bell] Effect: [The D. Bend] Party (Leader) This is a visual effect Script Control: Apply in Order Other: Wait 30 F Effect: [Press Button] Front (Opening Screen] This is a visual effect Other: Wait 10 F Input: Buttons: Constant Wait(it never gets past this point) Script Control: Apply Together Sound: BGM [None] Effect: Clear all Effects Script Control: Apply in Order Input: Multiple Choice 2(10, 12) 'New Game' Extra' Script Branch: Condition: Variable [User Choice] = +1 Sound: SFX [Magic 1] Other: Wait 3 F Teleport: Warp (Brine M. Valley) Script Condition End Script Branch: Condition: Variable [User Choice] = +2 Teleport: Warp: [Music Test Room] Script: Condition End
Thats the whole script and it won't get past that one spot in bold. But I can't find any errors in the script at all. Maybe I'm just overlooking something really obvious?

I have another question, and rather than making a whole new thread I'm going to post it here.
I made the title screen for my game. I want the game to wait until the player presses a button before the multiple choice options for "New Game" and "Load Game" appear. But when I put in this:
Input: Buttons: Constant Wait Wipe All Effects Input: Multiple Choice
The Constant Wait part doesn't work and when I press a button, nothing changes. Anyone know whats wrong?
And this is sad because I've made a successful start screen before. Man am I a noob.

So I'm making this song for my title screen and I've ran into a little trouble.
So far I've made one harp script and one violin script for the song. I successfully finished the harp script without any errors. I also got both the harp and violin script to match up successfully. However, the problem is that in the violin script I want to hold out certain violin notes for a long time and the program just cuts short(without the stop option after it). I think they made it so that you couldn't make it that long, that it would have to end at some point. But it makes the song seem messy and bad. How could I fix this?
For example: SFX: Violin: Volume: 100, Pitch: -6 Tempo: 10 Pan: 0 Wait: 108 F Sound: Stop SFX: Violin: Volume: 100, Pitch: -2 Tempo: 10 Pan: 0
It stops before the wait finishes so the sound stop feature just stops the other notes of the harp thats playing which further messes the song up. So I guess the Violin just can't hold notes for longer than 70 F or something?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was looking at your screenshots...and I was just amazed at the amount of detail you put in your game.
First off, the drawbridge. How did you do that!? There wasn't even an object that looked like a drawbridge, was there?
Secondly, how did you do the see through wall?
Excellent job!

I've been hearing about this Max Drive(I think thats what its called) that lets you play games from RPG Maker 2 or something.
What exactly does it do? How much does it cost? Where could you buy one?
Thanks in advance.
Peace

darksteel, I remember when I was just like you. Its uncanny how similar I used to be to you. Get the official Prima strategy guide for RPG Maker 2. It'll greatly help you get going. Especially the sample game they give you to make. It helps a lot. Trust me!

Ok. I worked on the ship. Unfortunatly you can't walk ontop of the object model ship, so I have to make my own. So far its coming along ok.
When the ships move, will the things on it automatically move too, or will I have to individually set the objects to move with the boat?
I don't know much about VFX, but do you think its possible to create a sail blowing in the wind or something like that?

Ok, thanks guys. I'll try these solutions.
Ok, I'll use the "Call Script" command for both people when I want them to move at the same time. As for event control. If I wanted to use Apply together to move the event and the other guy at the same time, I would have to use the command "Change control to blah"(I forget the actual command) but then the event guy wouldn't be moved foward and only the guy your controling would. Unless I'm misunderstanding you. Anyway, the Call Script method is fine by me.
I'm a noob so I don't really know what an action script is or how to manipulate the Enter Map Script or the Exit Map Script. I know how to use the motion option in Event but the Script I made to put in there shows up in a grey box. But I'll follow your instructions and see what I can come up with.
As for the ship. The ships model in object placement, IIRC, cannot move your person, even when its enlarged. I tried this in my other game but I will try it again. And thanks for the idea about the river objects. I'm going to use that.
Ok, thanks guys.

Hey! I got some questions.
I haven't told anyone this but Deston Chronicles: The Two Realms is over and will not be made now. Maybe in the future, but not now. I accidently erased over the file AGAIN(thats the second time) and lost all of the data. So, I've decided to make a whole new game, with a whole new idea. More exciting, action filled, suspenseful, yet humourous game.
Anyway, this isn't the Creative Development board so I won't go into too much detail about the story.
I have a couple questions: 1. How do you make two people(or more) move at the same time? This may be a noob question but I am a noob. This is how I did it and it didn't work. I made two seperate Scripts. One script controlled just one guy that walked foward, and lets just call it "Guy Move foward". Then I made the main script and put: Apply Together: Event Location Move: "Y "X" Call Script: "Guy move foward" Apply In order ...then the script continues
They both were set to move at the same speed(20 F) and the Call Script didn't work though. Only the event guy moved, but not the Call Script guy.
Ok, thats problem number 1.
2. How do you get someone to lye down for sleep. For this I had an idea but it won't comeout right. I made two scripts. One where the guy is sleeping and you can see him. The other one is transparent and has the talking script that says "ZZZ"
I set the one where the guy is sleeping to Auto so that the guy would lay down as soon as you went in the room, but I don't actually want to see him start to lye down, I want him to be lying all the time. I tried object placement and also moving the direction in event but there is no direction for making him lye down.
How would I do this?
3. The Deck of a boat. a. The design of the outside of the boat- This is a real problem. Everytime I try to make a boat it always comes out wrong. I can't seem to make it look like a boat. Anyone know any easy directions or steps to follow in making them? b. Object placement on the boat- The boat will be in motion and I want the objects to stay with the boat when it moves. Will the objects automaticaly stay when the boat moves or do I have to do something special to make it stay? Because if you have to move each of the objects with the boat, then I won't have any objects on the deck. Too much of a hassle. c. The water that the boat is traveling on is in a river. However, if its moving constantly, its going to get to its destination at somepoint. And I can't control how fast the player goes through this part so it could get to its destination too quickly or too slowly, depending on the player's speed. My first solution to this problem would be to make the boat stationary, but have it look like its moving. But that won't work because I want the player to see the boat moving. So how would I solve this one?
Thanks to all who respond! By the way, the name is Journey of a Soldier, and the opening scene is a battle along a river, so I'll probably need help with VFX and stuff too, so be ready for more!

I got this whole music pitch thing down, being a musician myself. I can figure that out, but when I make two scripts and combine them, the timing always comes out different. All of the waiting times are the same. Maybe its the tempo setting? I actually composed a simple new song for my game today. I'll try it out and see whats wrong.

This is copied from my post on www.gamefaqs.comI started on a whole new game recently(I ditched Berry Land because I just can't make stupid games with no plot) I tried making a start up screen but it didn't work out. First off, its going to be a map. First I want it to be night time. I want the camera to at first zoom out to about 700(the option goes up to 1000). Thats not the problem though. After I get it to zoom out I want the music and the name to come up at the same time. So far the script looks like this: Time: Night Zoom out 700(forget the exact command) Apply Together: BGM:Explore 4(I think thats the song, but I can't remember) Visual Effects: The Two Realms(Which is the name of the game) Problem 1: The Visual Effects look so bad when it comes up. Its just too plain and boring. I can't seem to make it look special. Also, its facing the wrong side and I can't seem to make it appear where I want it on the screen. Also, when I put the night effect on I want it to be night at the very beginning, and not change so you can see it turn to night. Although I might just do that if I can't figure it out. Next I want to have the camera start to rotate. After that I want the "Start" command to start blinking and when you press a button, the choices come up New Game, and Load Game. Problem 2: I have absolutely no clue how to make the "Start" command blink and then make it change into New Game and Load Game. Please help!!!!!!! Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone. This topic is to help me out with some issues I've been having making a start up screen. Basicaly how do you do it. I want the backround to be a map rotating. Then I'll put in custom music. I also want the name of the game to flash up real quickly and stay. Then the "Start" text blinks and when you press start, the game begins. I have no idea even where to begin to make this. Please help!
Thanks in advance.

Hey Doan, sorry to see you going. Thanks for helping me out with all my problems along the way. I don't really play RPGM2 anymore either, but I always like coming here and seeing the new projects that appear. Good luck in the future and I hope you come back to visit. And by the way, that video you made of your game with the fully functional drawbridge is my favorite RPGM2 video. No offense to anyone here, I've been impressed by many many other videos here too. But that one's my favorite.
